gonna do this and try to make it look like it happened at work. might need to rig up some kind of elaborate self-marionette contraption until the time is right to act

i switched to using a down pillow at home

downsides:
  • it has to be fluffed periodically (i.e. tumbled in the dryer with some tennis balls)
  • $$$

upsides:
  • you only need one pillow instead of a stack of six
  • it is like being enveloped in a cloud

i'm all hosed up because i also have this thing where in my sleep i apparently grind my face into the pillow and sometimes I end up scratching my eyeball on the pillow without waking up

sleeping considered hazardous

old person tv shows that rule:
* the great British bake off
* Frasier
* this old house
* Star Trek (original, tng, ds9)
* inspector Morse (and related, incl endeavour)
* antiques road show
* jeopardy
* everything on that Japanese channel that’s on public access where it’s like 10 minutes of world news followed by 30 minutes of a man sharpening knives followed by music over a video of cherry blossoms

were currently running through frasier and im seriously considering a sherry addition to the liquor side table

ive said it before but for sleep I take 1.5–3mg of melatonin a night and wake feeling mostly rested and remembering strange dreams after years of having neither. my white noise and ambient sleep music app fill in the background now that its too quiet by our place

yeah I was actually thinking of Lewis when I wrote Morse but I suck at memory (lol old); the non-endeavour Morse series is by far the weakest and Lewis is the best imo

insight like this is why I’m voting beep 2020
