Fair enough. Whatever floats your boat. And to be honest, there are probably worse ways to watch stuff. I bet some people take shows and watch it inside out, beginning in the middle and flipping between chronological and reverse order, ending at the beginning and the end.

Horde Prime On the one hand his vestigial side eyes make me instantly think "okay who's the mutant defect here?" but on the other hand it would cheapen Hordaks arc for Horde Prime to need to fail at his own philosophy to be owned. I dunno. Either way though this season was a loving rollercoaster and I desperately need the finale season

I got a chuckle out of double trouble as adora with a big pompadour. Every enby I know went through a feminine aesthetic + gigantic pompadour. Not sure if that is a stereotype but it rings true.

holy poo poo what a season I know we say "she can't possibly get any lower" each season but now I think Catra's hit it. She kept getting rewarded for doing despicable things and this season was all about it blowing up in her face. And Double Trouble giving her the wake up call she needed was essential. She joined up with Prime in an attempt to save her own skin, but she throws away pragmatism all the time for revenge. Having the long-term planning to actually voice a need for Glimmer works because speaking out for someone else is a genuine development for her. But also, it did some really interesting things with Glimmer and Catra. The two of them both got the power they desperately wanted, costing them their friendships, and were finally forced to realize that their ambitions weren't worth it. Pairing them up for the fifth season is brilliant because they're way more similar than I realized. Their different approaches to Scorpia really helps seal the deal, since Glimmer can throw "she didn't betray you, she wanted to save you" in Catra's face later. This show is so loving good at creating parallels and creating/changing relationships just to see how characters interact and bounce off each others. Its incredible. Also I'm such a sucker for villains dressed in all white pretending to be honorable while doing the most despicable poo poo. Its the BEST.

Double Trouble was in season 1, episode 8, and possibly every other episode. I think the big takeaways from season 4 are:   and that Scorpia continues to knock it out of the park as the best princess. Hordak blushing at the imp saying 'Entrapta!' in his voice and then tearing up when Double Trouble reveals that she didn't betray him after all was not what I expected out of these season but by god am I here for it. She's the reason why he didn't want Horde Prime to return deep down and now he has no memory of her and I

There was symbolism going on, but I'm not smart enough to piece together what the allegory actually was, if it was sex on wedding night or implanting a seed in an egg to pass the torch to the next generation, but there was definitely something going on and it was intentional.

If you really wanna incorporate the phallus into the metaphor, I'd say this: the ghosts and demons in catabasis are typically casualties of less heroic journeys into the underworld, or those who died long ago and are now bitter spectres of their former selves. They're inversions of the hero, and reflections of what the hero could become if they stray from the path of heroism. So the snake is arguably an anti-example: everything Glimmer shouldn't be to survive her adulthood. Solitary, aggressive, powerful, aimlessly defending the static memory of her mother. You could map some phallic symbolism onto that, if you wanted.

Also this season was really good, the best so far I think. They're finally paying off a lot of drama they spent S2 and S3 building up - and they're doing it in relatively complex, interesting ways. The rift between Glimmer and Adora is making me care more about both characters than I did when they were just uncomplicated pals, and Glimmer in particular is getting a powerfully interesting treatment that really makes her feel like a developed, complicated person. Also, Double Trouble rules. Jacob Tobia's line deliveries are fantastically energetic.
