i am weirdo who didnt mind the repetition because it felt in character. lincoln is the punisher basically and is ex SOG so it works that he makes sure Papa johns mafia is compeltely dead or replaced. plus the gunplay is nice and punchy. and the sheriff in the dlc is jeff sessions.

The repetition is probably the biggest issue most people had with it, and my 'solution' I guess was just to visit all the mission givers for a district to open up all the areas that had to be cleared, and then turn the game volume down and listen to movie reviews/podcasts while I swept through and did them all.

To compare it something like GTA5, I thought Mafia 3 gave you a good deal of freedom in how you approached things, either going stealthy, or gun blazing; in GTA5, you're on-rails for the most part, and deviating from how the game wants you to do things sends you back to a checkpoint.

I never did play the DLC. I should look to see if it goes on sale for cheap during the next Steam Sale.

Also, didn't the original book of Fight Club have some different ideas behind it then the movie did? (I know there was an afterword by the author in the reprints that discusses it, but I can't find a transcript of it).

I dunno, the response from the hardcore Marvel fans on Martin Scorsese's comments mirror what DC fans have been doing. It's just easier to malign the Snyder cut people because those movies are divisive and you can assign cult of personality or severe cases of denial for liking those films.

Fandoms are just bad and each one has parts of them that make the whole group look awful - well-meaning or not.

Speaking of Scorsese, he actually put out a write up about the Marvel thing. Haven't read it yet, though.

EDIT: Also this feels like the fourth time in the last week where one of my posts started a new page.

While I don't personally give that much of a poo poo (didn't watch justice league) the Snyder Cut apparently does exist in some watchable workprint form, as a couple people (including Jason Momoa) have claimed to have actually watched it. Also, it wouldn't exactly be the first time that a studio-mangled Superman film had a salvage cut reflecting the original directors vision released well after the original run, see: Superman 2's Donner cut.
Superman II was hardly "studio-mangled" - Donner hated the producer and refused to finish it. The studio's changes extended only to cutting Brando because he was too expensive.

I mean, the Snyder cut people have raised a metric fuckton of money for charity, while fans of the MCU have spent the last several weeks melting the gently caress down and writing novels about how corporate greed destroying film history is good, actually, because some mean old directors pointed out that the MCU movies are pap for children, so I don't think this comparison bares out as well as you think it does.

Anyone mindlessly going to bat for Disney over the MCU because they want to see all their favorite toys bump against each other on the big screen and call it high art is supreme dumbassery.

I'm not denigrating sincere DC fans at all, but there are definitely a lot of people pretending to be sincere fans of the DC movies or comics just to play up the Us vs Them thing and blame the MCU's success on whatever conglomeration of a feminism/sjws/the jews/etc. conspiracy that's palatable to their audience. The real problem is absolutely an all-consuming media conglomeration and the excess of late stage capitalism, but these types of people don't really want to reform the media landscape or financial system. They want to milk the group of alt-righters they've groomed into thinking they're the last holdouts of true nerd culture.

It helps that the DC movies do have a large contingent of genuine fans with valid analyses of DC and Marvel movies, as can be seen from it just leaking slightly in the comments here right now.

Played it during Extra Life. It's really not. It's very faithful to the originals but the originals were bad too? Like they're games that tell you "gotta go fast" and then put enemies in places where you won't be spinning or just random roadblocks that reduce your speed to zero.

Bad game. Pretty though.

Generations is pretty decent but it has some bad choices in Sonic games to honor (why even bother reminding people that 06 exists?) and a few poo poo levels. Sonic Colours, on the other hand, is straight-up good, and deserves far more love with an HD rerelease on modern platforms. How they managed to make the Planet Wisp level in Sonic Generations so atrocious, I have no idea.

I actually like the 3DS version of Sonic Generations more, just because the games it chooses to draw from are far better. Plus it has Casino Nights :allears:.
