There are not a lot of ways to mess with people via construction but zip-lines that are positioned with a large fall right in front might be the funniest I've run into so far. Bonus points if its also BT territory and there is a little cheering sign at the point it drops you down to.

I think you're projecting a smug tone onto his words, as are a lot of people. Pretentious I'll give you, but I really do believe there are a lot of people that WANT him to be the smug auteur with the upturned nose and see it in everything he says.

edit: In this case I think you've turned "maybe they didn't get it" or even "they didn't get it because they're not used to it" into "they didn't get it because they're inferior to my creativity" when it really doesn't sound nearly that harsh. It's just one paragraph.

oh no. at the craftsman mission into BT territory I put up a ladder on the wall to avoid that tight interior and didn’t think about what I’d do once I got to the end of the ladder and just felt 35 feet down onto my rear end trapped inside. so I put up a smiling face where I fell to denote my foolishness but now I’m concerned people will misinterpret that message and do a swan dive of their own

I kinda want to experiment with a well placed boost sign near a ravine that's kinda obscured from view to shoot them off before they can brake.

I like this game even slightly because BB makes my wife extremely uncomfortable (her words) when BB cries because "it tugs at my heart strings". It's also entertaining seeing her reaction to Just Kojima Things, as she's never seen any MGS games before.

I do not like this game because having to hold RT+LT almost everywhere seriously puts a cramp in my hands (since I do that with pointer fingers and it's awkward to hold the controller triggers with middle fingers...I tend to switch between pointer finger pressing R1 or R2 depending on the situation) after a few hours of play.

At least, it's forcing me to take breaks, as should SAM after hauling 124.99KG for me across the map.

Also, I got the bike and I still am annoyed with the frequency of BT zones. I drive around them entirely if I can, which annoys me further. Is there no way to "disperse" these ghosts zones (besides skipping them with zip lines or w/e)

I made it to the Wind Farm, grumbled about having to sneak past them which slowed down my progress, realized I don't have fast travel yet and can't skip going through the forest, dreaded having to sneak AGAIN through BT territory, and then they magically didn't show up on the return journey. hrmst.

I'll be excited to get to chapter 3 and get that exoskeleton thing

All the loving around doing the Junk Dealer missions to get the speed frame is totally worth it for the ability to leap 20 feet or so over ravines. Upgrading your backpack with an extra battery and you can super sprint for ever too.

You don't have to hold the triggers all the time, and doing that makes you slower + use way more stamina. Just make sure your backpack is loaded well, you can press triangle on the inventory screen if you don't wanna do that part manually, and then hit L2 or R2 when Sam starts leaning one way or another. You don't have to wait for the prompts, they're not really QTEs just a warning for when your balance gets close to loving you up.

Also with the bike hit L3 and you can just boost through BT zones

"It flies higher" is some real pretentious horseshit, and saying "Lol Americans love FPS" is a cheap Roberta Williams-level of blaming the audience excuse considering the diversity of the field this year. Not to mention some really good, even important to the medium games came out like Pathologic 2 or personal fave (and increasingly loathed on these very forums) Disco Elysium did get at least some traction and word of mouth in the US.

Wow, just got to mission 34 where you have to haul the chiral artist over to the junk dealers shelter. It was corny as hell, but it was still pretty moving and an incredibly cool mission. After hours of hauling normal cargo and interacting with holograms, suddenly an actual living person comes out of the shelter and you have to reconnect them with their lost love, not exactly subtle but combined with the novel gameplay aspect of hauling a human, it really was quite effective. Hideo Kojima is a coward for not allowing you to piss with a person on your back.

It's almost as if Death Stranding and its author were shielding themselves from criticism by targeting the kind of demographic that thought you need a real high IQ to get Rick & Morty, as well as using the same kind of arguments. Please pretend I linked that Rick and Morty ad for the billionth time.

The game is laid out to investigate one character at a time while giving you inklings of what's happening or happened with the death stranding. Chapter three is probably too long but it's gets thicker almost immediately.

? i think the only reason people "loath" DE is because its fandom comes on other threads and gets mad that others games arnt it. thats being said, i will probably pick it up someday because it seems up my ally.

anyway, i get it, i thinks part of the reason he says this is because people assumed it was gonna be more MGS like with action and such. instead of "gently caress off ghost, i have to climb a mountain with packages while playing qwop". while i think the story is interesting, the gameplay isnt clicking at all with me. its just not "fun" to me, its too simiulator like, i guess.

i think it would have gotten better reviews if it was more MGS5 type gameplay with way more traversal and poo poo to do in the world. the package delivering is cool, but their needs to be way more and kojimas writing/story as fun as it is doesnt save it.

It's really interesting. I'm getting a way bigger kick out of building stuff and doing deliveries than I have in action games for a while. I'm 30 hours in and this is tied with Sekiro for me as goty. I'm finding it incredibly addictive and I'm constantly torn between building/delivering or moving the story ahead. I'm having so much fun.

I crashed my truck into a ravine and had to haul all the poo poo to the too manually to load it into a replacement MULE truck earlier. I don't know why that was fun but it was like playing the moment where Sam loses his bike in the intro.
