Almost everyone I've mentioned this to has said some variation of "Good" or "Was going to happen eventually.". So far it's just been my dad half-heartedly trying on an argument that Cherry wasn't saying specific bad racist words and quickly backing down. Cherry should have been gone two decades ago at a bare minimum, but it's actually remarkable how little defense he's getting. It's dumb that institutional momentum kept him there but the pretty uniform messaging that he should be gone is slightly over the very extremely low bar that I expect in these situations. We should be holding people to much higher standards though. This is just slightly less awful than I figured.
