It's good. I'm actually surprised about how many things they took from the show, and modernized it thoroughly to feel like its own unique thing.

Reminded of one trans youtuber saying semi-jokingly that an upside to transitioning is no longer having to try to unfuck the utter mess that is masculinity. Not sure what people are that worried about with Kevin Smith. He has made a pretty good cartoon before.

It seems a shame the only NB character in anything ever is a capricious jerkface but it's still cool to see someone like that in something. And the episode "Hero" was one of the best episodes of anything I've ever seen in all honesty. This is a good show and I'll be sad when it ends.

Catra's increasingly manic behavior as she realized that Scorpia was gone, her small "Winning doesn't feel as good as I'd thought" a few episodes later and the sheer apathy of her character once Double Trouble broke her down in the finale made for some really compelling television. The fact that even Glimmer seemed sorry for her, and Horde Prime's appearance seems to have reinvigorated her but with some determination to help rather than chase her own short-sighted goals is great too. Shadow Weaver appears to be kind of heart-broken in her last appearance that Glimmer wouldn't listen to her and instead went off and did her own thing that may have killed them all, just as Micah reappeared was great too. Especially when the whole season played her appearances in a really ambiguous "is she or isn't she being duplicitous" manner, because even now it's still unclear what she was doing or how much was scheming or just genuine desire to help in her own twisted manner throughout the season and it's entirely plausible she will jump ship to help Horde Prime as well as that she'll actually try to help Glimmer in some fashion. Also, how did Bow and everyone know what stars were after Etheria was brought out of the zone of Despondos?

I think Bow's mentioned stars before as something from old stories, and they're probably in Etheria's folklore as something that used to be in the sky a long time ago. Like we have astrology and constellations from over 2000 years ago and all, and Etheria's only been in Despondos for about 1000 years. I reckon Catra's going to spend most of the next season desperately sucking up to Horde Prime and probably having to have it hammered into her that the absolute best case scenario she can hope for is being his pet.

She did just save Glimmer under the guise of helping Horde Prime, so I do suspect that she knows exactly what's going on here and isn't too invested on going on yet another self-destructive quest for power. She'll probably still manage to worm her way into being one of his top lieutenants, but only to sabotage him and help out the Rebellion. Which could get pretty entertainingly messy if the Rebellion hire Double Trouble for the exact same job.

Not this one though: I know I'm still in the honeymoon period but hot drat this was genuinely some of the best television I've seen in a while. I'm a giant sucker for science fantasy though, Gene Wolfe is one of my favourite authours ever (plus this comes without some of the uncomfortable sexual politics Wolfe occasionally indulges in, which is a plus).

When Scorpia is gone, even when Catra hasn't quite realized it yet, Double Trouble is the one person she thinks she can count on, and starts desperately trying to contact, but then when Double Trouble does eventually show up, they have no loyalty to Catra or her cause at all. It's somewhat a reflection of what everyone else sees in Catra herself, really.

Finally got through season 3. It was honestly the first season I enjoyed. Seasons 1 and 2 were either really cringy, boring or eye rollingly predictable. Season 3 was legitimately enjoyable however.

Seahawk's pretty great but I would like it better if his wackiness was just slightly more believable. He's actually got the same problem as Ronaldo from Steven Universe where making him too mentally ridiculous feels off because he's surrounded by psychological realism

I don't know, I'd say Seahawk's wackiness fits right in with the people around him really, because while Glimmer, Adora, Mermista etc. are all fairly grounded psychologically, they are all magical as balls martially so his character trades that off, by being grounded martially while magical as balls psychologically. Even Bow is pretty insane martially, and managed to break out of a prison using what is essentially a toy bow this season as well as just being able to make technology do whatever to a tamer degree than Entrapta.
