did they finally make unusual effects easily craftable or some poo poo

I dropped out of steam trading years ago when steamrep revoked my trusted trader mark which had resulted in lots of people coming to me to sell things since I was a known, safe resource. but the trading site I was an admin for, tf2tp, blew up and so they were like "your only proof of legitimacy vanished, off with your head badge" and overnight I became a nobody that basically noone would sell to anymore because I no longer had "proof" of my legitimacy, so I said gently caress it since I'd also gone full time at my job and hadn't been able to make much time for trading anyways

most of the sites I used for trading have since blown up so while it's unfortunate since I met lots of cool people through the steam game thing I did, steam trading is such an obtuse shitshow most of the time so I can do without that stress anyways

Well I long ago sold all my unusuals except for one a friend gifted me, a The Coupe Disaster with massed flies renamed THE POOP DISASTER, it was worth 20 bucks when it was even potentially worth selling and I bet it's way less now

They shut down the tf2 reddit from getting more posts and every one is getting trade banned.

e - Ok I figured out what happened now. On these specific crates valve some how removed all the regular items leaving only the unusuals.

Due to a valve update overnight people have been unboxing incredibly rare and expensive hats for peanuts. This has completely crashed the entire economy. Valve have apparently just woken up and have been trying damage limitation. They have massively hosed up though.

I'm not sure how they will even fix this.

In much more serious news C & C are taking an intermission because of all the stuff that has been happening recently. I actually really wanted an episode this week but I understand they are in a really odd position. Grim business. :(

Wait why? I'm still a few months behind on my pod backlog but VGHD is probably my favourite video game podcast besides C&C and the also indefinitely hiatused Idle Thumbs

I POSTED WHAT NOW!?
Anybody have some podcasts they could point me towards? I’ve been listening to more on my way to work now so sometimes I’ve been catching up through my queue. Here’s what I’ve been listening to:

8-4 play: Easily my favourite, I like their chemistry and they have a great format where they talk about what they play and then discuss news stuff and their thoughts. I like Japanese style games more than western so they generally talk about stuff I like, but even when they talk about stuff I don’t like because they have such good back and forth it’s interesting.

Retronauts: Depends on topic and on hosts. If Bob Mackey is in it, it tends to be good. When it’s their East Coast crew it tends to be unbearable. I generally find it hits, but there’s some misses.

Axe of the Blood God: I’ve only started listening to this recently, but it kinda falls into same boat as Retronauts for me. If it’s main crew banter is good, but some of the guests (the guy they brought in to talk about FFXIV and Marvel UA3) are boring as heck.

Non gaming podcasts I’ve liked has been: What A Cartoon, and Anime World Order.

I like JRPGS, Japanese style games (like 428: Shibuya Scramble, or Ai: the Somnium files), but I do big games like Spider-Man and Control for recent examples.

So anything I should try out?

go listen to Watch Out for Fireballs, made by goons Kole Ross and Gary Butterfield, and a great entryway into the duckfeed network which is full of amaaazing podcasts. WOFF is a games club podcast; just like a book club but for games! It started out as a retro-games podcast (retronauts but with deeper dives and only 2 guys), but they switched to including all games a couple of years back. The hosts are also friends of Bob Mackey, and he guests on a couple of shows. If you dig the dark souls series Bonfireside chat is a great podcast from them, Bob is (iirc) the guest that came back the most.
The banter between Kole and Gary is always stellar and I even listen to the episodes that feature games I've never played and don't wanna play; it's still entertaining. I listened to the entire Bloodborne episode of Bonfireside Chat without even owning a playstation! I must warn you though: they're not big on anime and grindy jrpgs, but they give each game a fair shake.

Another recommendation is Cane and Rinse, where a crew of (mostly) UK-based dudes talk about games. Each episode focuses on a single game, the history, how they got into it, and discussing the game itself. Quite good imo. Website: https://caneandrinse.com/

If you ever want to try to listen to an actual play podcast (a group of people playing a tabletop RPG and creating a cool story) you should go listen to Friends at the Table. Helmed by Austin Walker of Giant Bomb and Vice Gaming, it's an amazing podcast filled with great stories and characters. You should start with Counter/Weight or Marielda to see if you like it. They made a chart to help you find a good starting point. Counter/weight is -very- anime/gundam inspired, so it might be right up your alley!

Easy Allies Podcast and Frame Trap (This one's averages like 3 hours). Former Gametrailers team.

EA Podcast is a more general news 1-2 hour weekly cast.

Frame Trap is a bi-monthly dive into the latest games, the EA crew is generally a big fan of japanese games

"If Valve took Idle Thumbs, Important If True AND The Valley Of The Gods in exchange for nothing, I'll riot.

I mean, I won't, it's fine, but I hope whatever's going on is their decision and not their project dying in Valve's ecosystem."

I have to admit it is kind of weird. I haven't been in to anything valve has put out for pretty much a decade now. They seem to be just detracting from the things I enjoy. Honestly who actually plays vr stuff? Like 5% of gamers (I just made that up but even so)?

Valve's announcing a VR Half-life game, so I guess their project has been sidelined so they could write for that.
God, with the release of Death Stranding I wish they could do a one-off idle thumbs about it.
