Am I in the time warp back to when they released “Poison the Well” cuz this was the same reaction to that. 0-2. Oh well. We Were Dead is still a solid album. The last one they released I’ve only revisited a handful of times. I put a couple tracks on my iPod but don’t feel the need to listen start to finish.

Playoffs are no big deal,
don't have a crap attack.
I have been thinking about my favourite albums of the year, and I have realized that they are almost exclusively from bands I have been listening to for a while. Yes, the man with a New Pornographers username is also a huge fan of their latest album!

It really is their best album in a long while. Their last few, it feels like half was really good and the other half was okay, but this was strong throughout. And the final track, Leather on the Seat was fantastic.

I saw them live too, and it was brilliant show. Neko Case was there, and they didn't play Letter From an Occupant but that's the only thing I didn't like about it.

I was a big fan of Brill Bruisers, but I felt Whiteout was weak. Listening to it recently, it seems to lack any memorable song.

I've seen them live a ton, but never with Neko Case, and I only found out they were playing with her pretty close to the date. I was bummed because I had my wisdom teeth surgery booked.

The first side is pretty good. Whiteout Conditions is a legit banger and was one of my favorite songs of the year.

Saw The New Pornographers Tuesday, really really loved the concert and the opening band for them (Lady Lamb) was also really good. The setlist for the concert was also realllllllly good.

So I don't know if it's okay to post something like this here, but I've started putting out a show every two weeks on Mixcloud and Soundcloud of generally-underground electronic music from mostly the Middle East and North Africa and sometimes South Asia. It goes from IDM to clubby EDM to glitch to indie, but all really good artists who I hope get some more exposure in the rest of the world. It's amazing how vibrant the electronic scenes are in cities like Cairo, Beirut, Bangalore, Mumbai, etc. I just put out my latest episode on Monday.

I like AV Club lists because they are very clearly just personal tastes and not trying to make a statement. Especially because they don’t cover music much anyway.

Also it always amuses me that their top film critic is also the resident metal guy.

I think you're on to something by saying Guero : The Information :: Colors : Hyperspace. But I don't think The Information was all that much like Guero, it built on it and went to somewhat weirder places. As is the case here.

Beck + Pharrell is a great combination. It makes sense if you've heard some of the deeper N.E.R.D. cuts.

I love the new Grimes album.

Of the stuff that wasn't supposed to be released yet, Delete Forever, 4AEM, and IDORU are great. Nice mix of weird Visions type stuff and some of the more poppy vibes from Art Angels.

So, I'm going to pimp out my show again because it is literally a bunch of indie electronic music from the Middle East and North Africa. There is SO much good music coming out of that region and I just want to make as many people listen as possible.

Here's the tracklist if that helps:
Ah’na Hakkeka - Deena Abdelwahed 0:00
Allah by Night - Mettani 5:38
Trib - Nuri 11:23
STTF - KZLK 14:40
Al-’Asr Adh-Dhahabi (The Golden Age) - Maurice Louca 17:46
Air - Chiati 25:01
Transitory - Jad Taleb 31:20
Mariatorget - Stress/Distress 37:15
Hallowing - ETYEN 40:21
SATR JDEED | سطر جديد - Yazan Sarayrah | (يزن صرايرة (السّلايتس H44:02
7AM - Hello Psychaleppo 50:25
الحقيقة عن البشر The Truth about Humans - Eromoscape 55:32
Hverfa af himni heiðar stjörnur - FRKTL 59:55
Let Me Sing - Saint Abdullah 1:05:53

I was planning to go to their show here. I'd already gotten my ticket and everything! But then I ended up going out of town and missing it :smith:

I gave my ticket to a friend though and he really enjoyed it, so it wasn't totally wasted.
