Rah Rah is calling it quits. They were a pretty small Canadian band, but were tour friends with quite a few thread favorites including Dear Rouge. One of the longest drives I've ever done was to see them and Dear Rogue in this tiny EDM venue. Sucks to see bands die. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETo7GLryQjw

I have no idea who Noah Gundersen is but stumbled upon him during my weekly KEXP perusal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCOFJvwtpK8 First two songs and last two songs are pretty different. Some good synth-y-country-pop-tunes.

My wife took me to see them for my birthday a couple weeks ago at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. It was almost therapeutic for me. I've had their last 3 albums on heavy rotation for years. Leah's lyrics tend to knock the poo poo out of me. I've listened to this song a million times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM5pPuFcJw0

spotify consistently says my #1 genre is "freak folk," and considering i've never once heard that term used to describe anyone besides devendra banhart (who i don't listen to), i'm starting to think it's some sort of glitch. how can my #1 artist be Marvin Gaye and my #1 genre be Freak Folk

I somehow hosed up Spotify's metrics or something because it said my artist of the year is Madvillain and that I listened to them for a whopping 2 hours. I listened to Madvillainy once this year and it's nowhere near that length. Off the top of my head I can name six or seven Swans releases I listened to in 2019, one of which is over 2 hours on its own. My top song was a Slowthai song. I've listened to that album once through. It was probably correct in saying Bruce Springsteen was my artist of the decade though. Every year my top genre is noise pop, my top artists/songs are always hip hop. Which kinda makes sense since i don't listen to as many rappers, but the ones I like I REALLY latch on to. My song of the decade was Baby I'm Bleeding by JPEGMAFIA, haha.

Not at all surprising. Though it doesn't reflect my late-in-the-year obsession with Canadian rock/pop bands like The Beaches. And also local band Beach Bunny. I also like Beach Slang.

Beach Bunny exploded this year. They drew a decent crowd to start a mini fest in January, then they sold out a headliner pretty quick here last month. Im excited to see where they go.
