There were some gray foxes that were stationed for a few nights in the nature reserve behind the apartments I used to live in. I'm pretty sure they were practicing their skillz on the downstairs neighbor's cat one of those nights, since I could hear them playing pretty hard, then the neighbor opened his door and called the cat. After a few minutes, the cat came skulking out of the woods looking annoyed, but uninjured. Then one of the kits skittered onto a rock to follow its new catfriend, looked at the neighbor and me, and disappeared back into the forest where the sounds of baby fox battle resumed. That might have been their last night in that area, after a pair of great horned owls went for one. I don't think either owl caught it, but there were no longer kits playing back there after that night. I also saw one of these animals one night. I had no clue what the gently caress it was. I had several rats before realizing I just couldn't deal with getting super attached to the lovely little guys and then them dying shortly after. They're too good, my heart couldn't take it.
