Palpatine is a real fucker and the reveal he’s an OP space wizard is fantastic. the space battle that goes with it is super rad too, when the rebel fleet realizes they hosed up big time is another classic moment

tlj is weird because i thought the stuff with daisy ridley and adam driver was pretty good, since there was some kind of tension there, but seriously i dont give a stone cold poo poo about anything else that happened in that movie because it was all meaningless

Nobody grows or changes. Rey is in the exact same spot at the end as she was at the beginning. Nobody goes through an arc, and any threat of character development is precluded by the fact there has to be a sequel. Rian Johnson isn't wrong to say that the movies need to "challenge" fans, but Last Jedi isn't challenging anyone. All of its interesting ideas end up being dropped to restore status quo ante. The most challenging thing about it is having to endure the runtime.
