First, I'm destroyed to learn that Margo Price is married (muh unrealistic dreams!!).

Second, that is the dumbest loving video that I've ever seen in my life, and I grew up in the 80's. Song's ok tho.

Margo Price and John C. Reilly just recorded a George Jones/Tammy Wynette duet together at Third Man Records in Nashville, according to Margo's Instagram. It looked like John C. Reilly played a show there with some other special guests, so hopefully we will get some more new recordings from it.

Meanwhile, our Kacey Musgraves concert is a week from today! I took a leap of faith and bought an old-timey embroidered Western-style shirt with the chest, shoulders, and upper back a different color and material (light tan shirt, blue chest/shoulders). I've always liked the look of the more toned-down ones.

I know there is a lot of love in this thread for Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers. I just saw Brent Cobb play - third time I’ve seen him, but first in a small venue with his full band - and he definitely brings the baby Sturgill rock goodness. Recommend.

Yeah. Kind of like the connection with Auto Club, Munly and the Lupercalians, and DBUK some of George’s stuff was with Snakes and the Sterling Sisters.

This Sturgill Simpson / Tyler Childers tour is going to be insane. I can’t wait.

Got to see Tyler on Sunday night here in Minneapolis - he put on a heck of a show. Some drunk idiot threw something on stage during a song about halfway through and it noticeably kind of rattled him, but it was a great set with lots of old stuff and he had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

My all time favorite country man Terry Allen has a new album coming out with his Panhandle Mystery Band. I saw them play most of these songs live earlier this year and they were just brilliant.

I'm pumped, got centre row 3, the floor section was sold out already. Will be my first country show since my cousins took me to see Dixie Chicks like 19 years ago or so. (which was actually a pretty good show if I recall, I'm not gonna lie)

I might be out of the loop but last I knew, the cliché "outsider" bad boys of country these days are Sturgill, Jason Isbell, and Chris Stapleton. All of them are extremely rude and good. And for the girls you have all of the constituent elements of The Highwomen, plus rude country girls like Margo Price. I've been turned on to this corner of country music by others but I still really believe we're in a golden era of country outsiders and renegades.

I'd argue that Isbell isn't exactly a bad boy of country and has a much longer and more established pedigree than the other two, but his solo stuff has kind of sparked a resurgence of interest in him, especially among people who generally aren't into country. Rehab is the best thing he did for his career, it seems.

He wrote most of what would become Southeastern while in rehab, and it shows. Every song on that album makes you wanna kill yourself. It's great!

I first started listening to Jason Isbell in 2015 after seeing him play at Newport Folk. I was kind of ignorant to most alt-country at the time and was immediately captivated when I heard him play Alabama Pines.

"The A/C hasn't worked in 20 years
Probably never made a single person cold,
But I can't say the same for me
I've done it many times."

Ugh, that has to be one of the greatest song lyrics ever written. He's so good at it.

I just saw Steep Canyon Rangers playing with Steve Martin and Martin Short and, aside from being a hilarious show, the music was incredible. SCR played a couple of songs while Martin and Short took a break and I just don't have enough superlatives for their performance! Especially the fiddle player!

I wish we had more bluegrass shows in Aus. Or maybe we do and I just don't know where they're playing.

Bluegrass sadly hasn't had as much success worldwide as some of the other genres of American music. I read an interview with the Kruger Brothers where they said they basically had to choose between moving from Switzerland to the US, or giving up on having a bluegrass career. Thankfully for us, they moved ;)

The gorge is the coolest venue he’s playing, but Asheville or Austin are the coolest cities.

Edit: Nashville is also a fun town especially if you don’t get run over by a bachelorette party in a pedal tavern or a drunk on an electric scooter.

They're one of my favourite bands, and incredible live. If you live in the Denver area, go catch their New Year's concerts (2 nights at the Hi-Dive). Some year I'll get to go, but it's a long trip from Toronto.
