Loveless sounds a lot better if you crank the bass up. I normally never mess with EQs but the slinky bass line in "Soon" deserves to be front and center, not buried in the mix. Sorry Kevin

Took a look out of curiosity and it didn't imply that. He actually says that he's going to ask Toni if she's changed her mind (about her quitting in 2005). Most bands pretty much do consider themselves to be in existence as long as all the members are still alive, though. Laika have been on recording hiatus since 2003 (with an album incomplete) and still occasionally update their website. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcollsIir80

Knowing Lush got hosed over for the same reasons that ultimately messed over the Smashing Pumpkins, i.e. writing credits being accredited in a lopsided fashion that affects royalties, sucks. Lush is absolutely my favorite band ever. I still think of "Lit Up" as the ultimate song to explain my relationship with my mother and keeping her going through her depressive episodes.

More bands should have done what REM did, early on they just said "we're putting all our names equally on every song no matter who wrote it" to avoid that poo poo

Phil had always resented not getting writing credit. when Lush was going to play 2 Coachella shows, Miki's immigration paper work got delayed because she had an old drunk driving charge which she forgot to mention. they ended up missing one of the shows, so the rather large payout they were going to get got cut in half. pissed off everyone else in the band and I guess that was the last straw for Phil.

Sorry Kevin I have been continuing my listen to shoegaze thing and am deeply hooked by Loveless, it is so evenly amazing to me. Soon in particular is getting repeated listens; I am in awe of this song and they way it plays with tension. OTOH Ride, which I also really like, sounds more like Britpop with a few flanger pedals in comparison. I really think MBV are heads and shoulders above the rest in what they were doing.

Driving between campuses listening to our campus radio station, this came on and I was like holy hell, turn it up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKrw5wOlSng I know I have commented on how Ride is "Brit pop with flanger pedals" before, and I'm not stepping away from this so much, but I have to acknowledge this tune as good. Got a kind of Moody Blues sound going. Love the energy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDAFl2tOqj4 The drummer is an absolute star
