I need to know about this also because in California you only see rear emptying ones. Wisconsin has front loaders still.

Weird, I never really thought about it since I've only lived in places with both styles, and I thought it was the same everywhere but after some snooping around it looks like that's totally not the case. Some cursory research suggests that the differences by region could have to do with A.)piecemeal state-based regulations for weight classes/restrictions for bridges and roads (frontal trucks can carry an extra couple yards and require another axle), B.)union influence since frontal trucks would eliminate the need for a whole lot of crew, or C.) a combination of the two. Huh.

Huh. Opposite here in Tampa Bay. Cemex out of Tampa (well, Town and Country) uses rear-discharge trucks and theirs seem to be the majority of them that I see around here. Maybe they take the majority of smaller jobs?

Some googling of his name suggests yes, they're aware of what he's doing. No mention of them actually doing anything about it though.

When I start googling 'Jerry Wagner', the suggested searches were

'Jerry Wagner',
'Jerry Wagner pilot', and
'Jerry Wagner obituary'

I don't think he's dead

Someone forwarded his golden gate bridge video to an ASI who reached out to Jerry in a friendly manner about it about a half year ago

The FAA can’t use Jerry’s videos against him and are unwilling to interview witnesses.

Nothing will change till he craters, and if he’s the only casualty (we can hope), they’ll sweep it under the rug.

Jerry is friends with someone at the FSDO. That’s the only explanation I can think of.

These remind me of the stories I heard from the guide when going to a Hoover Dam tour, about the injuries and fatalities during construction. One thing was that for power they had cables strung from miles away. It being desert, they just stretched a bunch along the ground rather than suspended from poles, and when they did get some rain it led to a couple of electrocutions.

Another was when they were digging the diversion tunnels and had running vehicles with insufficient ventilation, resulting in some deaths from carbon monoxide inhalation. Six Companies officially listed them as pneumonia to avoid compensation payments and associated bad publicity.

According to the reddit ASI, the FAA can't investigate based off social media posting, though why someone couldn't look at his flight records and say 'hey this appears to violate every FAR that has ever existed and several that havent'

*NOTE: We will not accept a report with just a link(s) to a video(s) without supporting information. Simply sending a link to a social media site and stating a violation has occurred is not sufficient to take further action. Please note, even if a violation has occurred, federal rules of evidence severely limit the use of a video on a social media site as evidence unless the operator admits to taking the video or there is a witness who saw the alleged violation take place.

I can’t find that paragraph on the current site, and IANAL, but as I understand it, they can use video, they just can’t use it alone.

If someone had, say, watched Jerry do his attack run on the Bay Bridge through a pair of binoculars, the video could be introduced to corroborate their testimony.

He’s a pilot infamous for doing dangerous thing and posting about them online.

Here’s his reputation among aviators in Northern California:

cigaw posted:

A buddy and I were walking on the ramp at KSAC that day to check on an airplane and stretch out legs and saw him coming in. Having never heard of this guy before I was watching his circle and landing and commenting on the insane turn to final. My buddy, who grew up in aviation, saw my :wtc: expression and said "betcha that's Air Wagner looking to get reported to the FAA again".

If you click through to that quote, the Aviation Ask/Tell thread talks about him for several pages.

Jetcarriers.com has a thread on him nearing two hundred pages. I don’t suggest you read it all and I haven’t myself, but I did skim the last few pages and see him caught defending himself with a sockpuppet account. :allears:

It's not quite that he's a 'daredevil', but he's the guy that gets pissy when you talk about things like 'safety glasses' or 'hot work permits' because he's always done it that way and nothing bad has ever happened and everyone else is just a baby. It's like he thinks that flying the way he does is just how you fly

The one video of him coming out of the clouds a few hundred feet above the runway way and off to the left reminds me somehow of an episode of flight instruction I had with a suspect CFI who pulled power for simulated engine out while we were directly above the center of the airfield and had me make an absurd bank in a non aerobatic plane to make a crosswind landing touching down at about the middle of the runway with no radio calls. Next annual on that plane noted a spar crack :stare:

How do the feathers end up in a vehicle to fall out?

"Stay back" placards are magic legal runes that mean anything you don't have the object in hand, stuck in the windshield, or on dash cam, you're not going to get any compensation from the other vehicle because it was an uncontrollable road pebble and obviously the government's problem.

It might be a hollow victory but a lot of insurance companies cover windshield work with a minimal claim process and reduced or no deductible because getting cause is getting blood from a stone but they absolutely do not want you using a compromised windshield.
