So the RLM review dropped and it's probably better than the movie. It certainly sounds that way from their description lmfao.

Everyone posted:That's obviously what happened. They really needed to put in a line about "Leia wanted you to have Han's medal." Yeah the way it happens in the movie, I at first just thought Maz randomly had a medal like the ones they gave Luke and Han. That was my initial reading post viewing. I didn't put it together until last night that it was actually Han's medal that Leia was holding. But honestly, that makes it worst because, yeah, without a proper line of dialogue, it comes across now as the aforementioned grave robbing lol. Fuckin' Maz taking all the Skywalker family trinkets.

You gotta be super dense/obtuse into not seeing the whole implication of the sperm/egg imagery during Sheev's "manipulate the midichlorians to create life" monologue — the dude is basically winking at the camera while he's chucking that dialogue into Anakin's face. [edit] Defenistrator posted:I thought it was a bother sister connection. Not lovers. The scene on Ach-to where Ben and Rey touch hands through the force had romantic/erotic undertones in the way it was staged. And then this scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNQt1nJTVuk That doesn't read like a conversation between a brother and sister, imo, not when it's almost like Rey is making an advance on Ben trying to turn him back to light. teagone fucked around with this message at 22:00 on Dec 23, 2019 |

Since we now established that force ghosts can manipulate physical matter why didn't Qui-Gon or Yoda who have no problems murdering Sith ever kill Palpatine in his sleep or prevent planetary explosions.

I'm not hallucinating when I remember them saying Carrie Fisher had finished filming her scenes for this movie before she died right? Because it's clear they edited footage from the previous movies and she didn't film a second for this one.

The party line for TLJ was that she had completed all her filming before she died. For this one they never denied that it was going to be a poochie editing frankenstein of old footage

I remember it being pretty clear that they were going to have make some edits and do some write-arounds in order to include Carrie Fisher in the last movie.

Of course, the answer is that this movie shouldn't exist in the form it exists in, but if those are the parameters you need to abide by TLJ is a difficult thing to follow. (I actually like a lot of TLJ even if the last 30 minutes ruin most of that)

What exactly would everyone else want out of the last 30 of TLJ? Luke surviving? The resistance somehow winning the space battle? Finn/Rose succeeding and the fleet just getting away? I think luke is kind of corny at the end but the whole resistance getting shrunk down to being able to fit on the falcon and a hint that maybe Rey/Kylo aren't the last force users "awakening" or whatever was alright with me.

I got kind of lost with all of the transaction of life force as the end there. How did Palpatine suck so much juice from Rey and Kylo without seeming to do them much real harm? Is it because their force connection creates additional life force? If that's the case, would they have no longer been a Dyad had Ben survived (since Palpatine sapped all of the energy out of their bond)?

Rey deciding to join would have been a ESB-worthy shocker though, I'll give you that. I've always wanted some sort of representation of the only cool part of Dark Empire: where Luke agrees to apprentice under Palpatine, but explicitly to understand and defeat him, which Palps is fine with because he bets that Luke can't study the dark side without eventually succumbing. Edit: Kylo's appeal to her in that moment is probably the best writing the sequel trilogy has Intel&Sebastian fucked around with this message at 23:19 on Dec 23, 2019 |

A great cliffhanger, echoing Empire, but different - your big bad guy is dead, awesome space battle ends in a sacrifice of what should have been Leia, there is a future of this uncertain "destroy the old" alliance between Rey and Kylo (what's gonna happen between those two characters with amazing chemistry? A non-stupid romance? Weird neutral sith-jedi breed?) and in the third movie, Luke can now complete the arc from TLJ by finding back the bottle in him to be a Jedi again and interfere in the Reylo thing, whatever that may be. So many interesting ideas, and it's set up perfectly. Instead, they double back on those things. Luke's arc gets haphazardly finished for no real reason in a battle against the Kylo who is complete bad now again. Rey lifts rocks. Finn doesn't sacrifice himself and this is seen as good even though sacrifice happened 10 minutes before and was seen as good. e; it would even fit the drat title of this one! dex_sda fucked around with this message at 23:21 on Dec 23, 2019 |
