I think in the last soldiers game I was in, Birdstrike kept calling Anidav 'Vadina' and that somehow stuck with me. Now, in this game, Tommu has called Anidav 'Anime David,' and I don't know what to think.

i get that youre used to it being written that way even since you were a kid, but unless you pronounce the date "fifth of january 2020" or something, then you're not writing left to right. so how does that make sense?
|
# ? Jan 5, 2020 12:12 |
|
but we do say and write fifth of January, 2020 so i don't get your point.

it operates on the same principle as "10:30 on sunday" large unit followed by smaller more frequently changing unit, followed optionally by the largest unit that encompasses the whole phrase. you dont write the time as 30:10 because you *say* it "ten thirty". and the reason we don't lead with "sunday" is that's generally the least important information when saying a specific time

Smallest to biggest. Or hell, biggest to smallest like in Japan or China makes sense. Medium, small, big? Why is that more sensible? You know the US only did it that way to stick it to dear old dad during it's rebellious stage. Next you'll be pointing out the travesty that is the metric system.

i hate the argument of "size order is logical" thats why i debunked it first. idk maybe this is different overseas, but i have no memory of ever hearing someone describe the 3 parts of a date in ascending or descending order. when saying only the day and month, sometimes but rarely i'll hear "[ordinal] of [month]" but "[month] [number]" is still by far the norm.

the metric system, i should mention, is far superior to the imperial system for all purposes relating to science or engineering. which is essentially the only things those measurements are used for so im completely on the metric side of that argument. a logical system makes sense for logic-based fields where measurements are a requirement. (though that said, i could never adopt metric in my daily life outside of a scientific context. im just too used to imperial)
