OK so I'm the guy who keeps posting in this thread every few months about how my Quest used to be fine playing BeatSaber at launch and now I keep getting phantom misses bla bla bla but it has to be the Quest because it USED to work I changed out my light fixtures in my office for unrelated reasons and now everything is MUCH brighter and more importantly, I stopped getting phantom misses. BeatSaber now plays just like it did on day one, and the only misses I get are when I very obviously lose controller tracking from doing some idiot ninja moves outside of the Quest's tracking cameras. So no matter how much you think lighting may not affect your experience, definitely try playing in a brighter space before you try anything drastic with your headset. I will say that I stand by the fact that it USED to work so I suspect maybe some tracking changes in the firmware made it more sensitive to lighting situations, but in the end the solution was to just increase ambient light. I'm mainly posting this for anyone else who may find themselves in the same situation are are kind of stuck on the "it used to work so it has to be my headset" fixation like I was.

Can we at least agree that outside of bleeding edge vr gods that a normal person buying an index kit with two lighthouses should at least set up their room with the 2 that come with it and try it before premptively buying 1 to 2 more at $150 per lighthouse? Or is that too reasonable

I believe 3 lighthouses are better. no doubt but like, that's a lotta money, man. 200$ Canadian scrums. Do it if you want? It doesn't seem worth the 200$ upgrade considering the new lighthouses are 1/3 faster and more accurate than the OG lighthouses... which I have, and have never had an issue with tracking but if you have money to piss out of your dick or vagina or cloaca then piss away waiting to be told that I just never noticed my OG lighthouse tracking being the equivalent of a cloudy eyed sailor relaying my position through a broken telescope from a shaking crow's nest half a kilo away and my opinion is worth the cloaca piss I was talking about earlier (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

Ok, room scale games are cool and good, but it can get pretty tiring running around waving your arms. Can I get some seated w/ controller game recommendations? I've got Thumper and Overload which are both great. I also tried out Wipeout on my friends PSVR which was really fun.

Chronos is a dark souls like (like melee combat, dodging, low health with chugging a limited amount of health potions, checkpoints where you can teleport around) that is awesome and incredibly atmospheric. Remnant: From the Ashes is a direct sequel, if you've heard of that. Chronos's intro area is still one of my all time favorite VR experiences, the point where you get control of your character up until where you face the first enemy.
