So I spoke with a nice lady about adopting the dog she’s fostering, and it turns out she’s a very good girl but she has huge issues with anxiety, too much for me to handle and I’m not the right human for her.  I didn’t think I could be this sad about a dog I’ve never met. The search continue.

Rescue dogs come with issues sadly. Some tiny, some huge and you never really know what you will get until about 6 months in (according to the dog trainer this is when they finally stop being in survival mode). There are situations where a well socialised and well chosen pure bred dog is the way to go.

 Lando fell asleep with his head in my lap yesterday while he was getting a belly rub from my wife and I. I love my drat dog so much and freely acknowledge I don’t deserve him.

Popped up in my fb memories today. I miss this Very Good Boy named Boo  I've said it before, but he was effectively my therapy dog when I got out of the army/got back home after leaving AK. I had a really lovely deployment with some really lovely people, but this VGB didn't care about any of that. He just wanted to snuggle, and walk down to the coffee shop by the beach for a morning treat every day  The boy loved treats from that coffee shop so much, that if I dropped by the house and had a coffee from there (but no treats) he'd initially be excited to see me...then when he realized I didn't have a treat for him, he'd mope back to his dog bed, grab his favorite duck toy, and just stare at me until I came over to make amends via belly rubs. He was a Plott hound, but apparently small for his breed? Only about 40lbs or so.

Last night I had a really bad dream where Lando was freaked out and scared and needed my help, but he was just out of reach and I couldn’t get to him. In the dream, he looked like he thought I was abandoning him on purpose. It kind of hosed me up all day, until I decided to go home a few hours early and get down on the floor and give him pets and loves before taking him for a nice long walk before the sun set. Of course, on the way home, I stopped off at a pet supply store and got him some treats and chews. Moral of the story: when your subconscious decides to jam its thumbs directly into your deepest anxieties, your dog ends up winning.

I met this Very Good Boy at a local bar tonight! His name was McKai, and got so excited from getting butt scritches that he tried to hump my leg   As you can see, he has successfully weaponized his pitiful face. He got all the boops, ear, and butt scritches he could handle, though
