Microsoft has done nothing to gain any sort of trust. Also, Bing Maps are garbage. And trying to push your search engine by installing a browser hijacker is a really weird move. Chredge having forced Bing on the start page that can't be changed is bad enough.

Bing is trash, except for porn The idea that MS is now employing standard adware browser hijacking tactics for their premium office suite that you actually pay money to use is laughably typical. I remember a good ten years ago how one of the biggest telltale signs of computer illiterate people destroying their machines with malware was when you used their browser and the search redirected to loving ask.com. Even my school's computers were infected with that for a while because some dumbass IT guy didn't know what the gently caress he was doing (presumably).

Can I upgrade from Home to Pro without having to reinstall everything? I just learned that Docker won't run on Home and it'd be nice to be able to do dev stuff on my laptop as well as my desktop.

The Bing team is probably really desperate for users so they can finally datamine what 'good' search results are.

mystes posted:Street view is definitely more useful in general. I've mainly used bird's eye view occasionally for weird things like trying to locate paths that should exist but aren't on the map, because changing the angle can help see through tree cover, so it's not enough to get me to use Bing Maps on a daily basis. Google Maps has a 3D feature that you can enable on the bottom right (then Ctrl + Mouse to change the angle and orientation) that's useful to that effect as well.

Some of it is, but a lot of stuff seems to have been generated from Street View with photogrammetry or something. People used to actively contribute (you could either submit textures 3D models or use some tool they had to work from some local images) but the quality and coverage just exploded, so there has to be automation going on from all their ground data baka kaba fucked around with this message at 21:19 on Jan 23, 2020 |

Something about current Google Maps that's bothering me is they removed the street view dates by default - you can only view those if they've been through there more than once (and thus can select another view). If all they have is from 2007 it will be obvious (the quality will be crap), but if all that's there is any time from 2012 to present you'll have no idea when it was taken. Unless I'm missing something.
