The biggest news story in Norway this month has been that the government decided to bring home a child of an IS-woman. The child was seriously ill and the only way they could bring it to Norway was to also bring the mother back. This caused one party to leave the government and other politicians to ask how ill the child really were.

Conservatives believe, as usual based on nothing but Trump's farts, that CNN is to Democrats what Fox is to the Republicans. This cartoon is especially weird because IIRC it's the big-three networks that have been breaking the Parnas drops, not CNN.

On a different note: I don't even know how to respond to that Cross cartoon except to feel kind of bad for the cartoonist. It doesn't even rise to the level of being a bad cartoon; it's just pathetic and gormless.

This wasn’t part of the trade deal…

China’s President Xi Jinping has warned that the ‘coronavirus’ is spreading even faster than before. Millions are quarantined in several cities. Was it a bio-weapon released by accident? Did it occur when the virus mutated and jumped among various animal species?

The Chinese eat a great variety of animals, which can be found in ‘wet meat’ markets throughout the country. Various viruses can mutate and jump among species and then get transferred to humans. The Chinese authorities themselves say it could have originated at a seafood market where illegal transactions of wild animals were occurring.

Such wet markets offer a mix of a great many species including crocodiles, ostriches, donkeys, kangaroos, snakes, badgers, peacocks, camels, salamanders, wolves, koalas, dogs, cats, turtles and incredibly enough, bats! Apparently some people in China will eat just about anything. Worse, the animals involved are often mistreated or even tortured (to bring out the flavor). It’s sick behavior and while it may not be scientific, there’s a certain amount of karma involved when nature strikes back with viruses.

China also caters to some very weird and abusive superstitions and traditions such as ‘tiger penis soup,’ which is supposed to increase virility. Thankfully, the authorities in China have outlawed such an evil ‘harvest,’ but the black market remains.

China is also well known for being one of the most polluted countries on Earth. The communist dictators have no respect for the freedom of their own people and certainly no respect for their own environment. Their disrespect toward nature has brought about the deadly coronavirus.

This. Is. AMAZING. A 180º reversal from praising communist policies vs. free market, to condemning communists for limiting freedom in two sentences. :magical:

Also at this point there simply is no knowledge of the route the virus took to humans. Actual research takes some time, so far all there is is wild speculation about it.

You're right Garrison, we should really consider laws to protect the environment and strong food safety standards to prevent this sort of thing from happening, and also a strong public health program to improve the health of the people most vulnerable to these sort of diseases to counter problems before they get out of control.

THe Q anon people and other various insane people have got this thing going where they believe the Bad Unseen Enemy (Democrats, Liberals, Satanists, abortionists, Feminists) are trying to Persuade the american public to accept cannibalism by sneaking human flesh in meat products. This Shithead i work with believes all meat has some human meat and loves to tell you that while youre eating a burger or sandwich or something.

He cited some study that said McDonalds had human DNA in it (like a low rear end number.) I said that was probably just the employee spitting in your food and he scoffed at me like i was dumb.

I should note that this USDA regulatory change is/was bad and dumb but not within a million miles of the issues in China. Don't get me wrong, the Garrison toon is racist as all hell, but China does genuinely have a whole host of really terrible food safety issues that make it particularly susceptible to the development and spread of disease.

This week, we bid farewell to the first month of...

Forgive the sloppiness of this update: it was a busy weekend.

1
Remember when conservatives reveled in the Obama/Clinton primary? Or uh, this primary? Projection.

2
Romney released his tax returns around this time, showing that all his income was from investments as opposed to wages, and that he had a laughably low rate of 15%.

3
Of course, conservatives tried to spin this as "class envy," but all it did was show that Romney really was the uber-rich elite. Fortunately, the next election would do away with this silly tradition of transparency...for Republicans.

4
Newt was stumping in Florida and had this weird proposal to build a base on the moon.

5
He tried to play it off by saying that a lot of presidents had lofty ideas that seemed odd when first announced, but amidst the economic anxiety of 2012 space exploration was not a high priority. Thus is became meme fodder.

6
Cain endorsed Newt, which held very little weight and extra bad when you're already taking fire for your string of failed marriages.

A
With Manning retiring, this seemed timely.

B
The last State of the Union of Obama's first term happened. Not much of note besides reminding you all how racist McCoy is. Geez.

C
Joe Paterno died this month, and these old Rob Tornoe cartoons show the before: when the cartoonist defend Paterno against the allegations, and after: when the evidence became clear he did indeed protect child molester Jerry Sandusky. You will be pleased to know that Sandusy is still serving his sentence, and won't be eligible for release until he's in his 90s.

NEXT WEEK: It's halftime in America. Susan G. Komen is good FUNDS BABY MURDER. And we throw condoms at Catholics.
