Casey Tierri and Dan Kelly were the worst combination of refs I've seen this year. Allowed a goal that was blatantly interference and did not call either team for the multiple trips. Guess they started their New Years partying early.

The Federal League is a land of contrasts. Last night Carolina beat Columbus 8-6, they were credited with 86 shots. Very generous scorekeeping, but they still had at 65-70 legit SOG. The win moved them to 20-1-1 on the year, scoring 115 while only giving up 39. On the other end of things are the Battle Creek RumbleBees. They're an expansion team who was created just 90 days before the start of the season, and it shows. They have lost all 24 they have played in regulation, the closest they have come to a win, or even making it to overtime was a few games ago when they took a 5-2 lead with 2 to go in the 2nd. They ended up losing 6-5 on a short handed goal. They have the all time record for a losing streak in minor league hockey, and are coming up the all time winless streak of 31. They have been outscored 40-161 so far.

The first time I'd ever heard of the Federal League was when the Dayton Demonz joined and had to change their name to the Demolition because of a cease-and-desist from the New Jersey Devils. e- FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE-HOLE. e2- Santini went to chirp the ref for the penalty and ate ice before he could get to him.

And I reverse jinxed them, they won 2-1 at Elmira, who is a mess themselves after being an ECHL town for a long time. Earlier in the day though another team tweeted a pair of games against the Bees was being moved to their city, Battle Creek's official Twitter tweeted back that no one had told them about it. The Federal League never ceases to amaze.

The Federal League is still the best league. This week Port Huron got a goalie back who had been in the SPHL for over a year. They had a 3 game set in Colombus, GA this Thursday, Friday, Saturday. On Thursday two of their three goalies go down with head injuries, the 3rd had a lower body injury Friday, and had to stay in the game and eat a 9-0 loss because they didn't have a backup. To get a goalie they signed a guy who retired at the end of last season and was doing color for the Carolina team's broadcasts. He drives 6 hours to the rink to play tonight. PH still needed a backup, so they signed their broadcaster to be the emergency goalie, and then he broadcasts the game from the PH bench. Columbus ends up winning 11-9, a million "gently caress yeah boys" went out over Port Huron's stream, at one point PH's coach took the mic from the broadcaster / emergency goalie, one of the players beat the broadcaster back to the mic at the start of the 2nd period and welcomed everyone back to the game. Looks like this will be the one and only season for the Battle Creek Rumble Bees. They finish with 1 win, 45 regulation losses and 2 overtime losses. In 48 games they managed a -210 goal differential. It's pretty big news! They've been pretty far ahead talent and growth-wise compared to the rest of the CJHL for a while now and it'll be interesting to see if they go for more of a USHL format with bantam and import drafts.
