It doesn't really matter what it is—trying to set up a future run, personal spite, the world's smallest, most tortured shred of integrity—it is something other than blind loyalty to the President, and that's a rare sight in this dying world of ours.

Romney absolutely wants to position himself as the "come back to our senses" candidate and he is in a 100% safe position to do it. Not that it will work, the party is not being pulled back from this.

My ultrafundamentalist Mom: Voted for Romney in 2012 because "Obama is muslim". She didn't engage when I reminded her of all the times she called the LDS led by false prophets and said that they were all going to hell. Voted for Trump in 2016 because "I voted for Pence sweetie". Just now, "Romney is still ruled by Satan and doesn't have the fear of God required to help our country" It's a cult.

Is there a german word or any word for the feeling of "I'm not surprised this series of events is happening, but I'm frustrated because it's stupid as hell"? because I would have assumed after the last presidential election season the DNC would do everything in their power to run the cleanest and most well organized primary if for no other reason than to at least not hamstring whoever the hell is going to end up as nominee. Even if Biden ends up as nominee fair and square it'll be rough to convince the progressive wing to go 100% to rally behind him, but probably close to impossible if there's even a hint of shenanigans and bullshit that appears to spike the tires of anyone else.

In fairness, I think even if the DNC or State Dems ran a super clean and competent primary (No way I'm gonna argue this was run competently run), we'd still have people being shitters cause their guy didn't win.
