if you just want to know enough to watch one specific anime or series or w/e fate is super simple if you want to understand how all of the plots connect together you're hosed because despite theoretically existing in shared universe nasu refuses to let something simple like continuity or universal rules stop him from writing what he wants to write. the actual serious answer is that coming from a visual novel with 3 distinct routes that go in very different directions makes a unified universe or singular sequel really hard, so the creator just sorta ignores all that poo poo and writes what he wants to write, as the fans try desperately to make everything fit together TheFlyingLlama fucked around with this message at 09:12 on Feb 8, 2020 |

Despite her role in Extra, she is probably the only canon Servant not featured in Fate Grand/Order, which makes her inclusion as part of the recent Fate anniversary all the more baffling. That's a weird crossover lol

Fate is good I spent a few years away from the franchise and the amount of weird and bad in it ratcheted up drastically, and it seems to be half because of that magical girl show and half because of Fate/apocrypha, so maybe avoid those But the "main" line of the franchise (VN/VN-adapted content and Zero) is some good poo poo, and the only yikes material in it is ultimately handled really well
