Pulaski isn't mentioned often but I'll dig some stuff up. I'd almost argue that her defenders are a bit more vociferous, because her all the detractors were. With Troi, I don't think anybody ever particularly disliked her, so people don't get as a revved up to defend her.

That's actually insightful. What's even more interesting is that Japanese fandoms did this as well, almost concurrently. Early yaoi had grotesque and cruel female characters, and it developed at almost exactly the same rate into female characters who are benign or actively altruistic. I'm out of this scene but it's been considerably remarked upon.

One of the known wonders of Star Trek Tumblr is this particular artist, who is extremely talented, and loves Quark and Odo. This person has literally drawn, and I am not joking here, hundreds of images of them in countless iterations in a variety of styles. They're a professional artist, obviously, and work on other things you've likely seen or at least heard of. but on star trek tumblr, it's star trek tumblr time.      and yes obviously, draws them as a couple, that's what this artist is into. no porn though--there's actually almost no illustrated porn in star trek tumblr yes, even before tumblr's porn ban. it's just super super super uncommon.

I would say complicated in that they are both very critical and very forgiving. He is absolutely considered a fuckboy in a lot of ways. But yes, I will get into more detail about that. If anything, the most interesting thing is a lot of work has been devoted to trying to distill a coherent character out of the mess we see over the course of the show, especially with his dumb late-game reveal In many ways, he is viewed as a representative of young men, generally, who seem to genuinely mean well but are still kind of stupid and do stupid young man things.
