I thought Mark Mothersbaugh was totally willing to do kids show music after he did the theme to Pee Wees Playhouse. Pretty sure he also did music for Rocket Power too.

Cartoons and kids shows seems to be a pretty lucrative haven for 80s artists. They Might Be Giants are doing music for Micky Mouse Clubhouse, to say nothing of the bump they got from Tiny Toons.

speaking of doom, I highly recommend checking out WoolieVS's DOOM 2016 playthrough he's been doing the last week and a half or so. He's a guy who has never been one for FPSes because of motion sickness, but the sheer unbridled JOY from this man as he goes through one of the best FPSes ever made is infectious. And Reggie as his cohost knows absolutely nothing about the game. It's a super fun LP, easily one of my favorites I've seen in years. It'll eventually be chopped up into parts and put onto youtube, but here's the first four twitch stream archives:

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/551338966
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/551375847
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/551384208
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/551730411

if unfamiliar with Woolie, he was raised in Grenada by his fanatically religious mother, forced to go to church and do lots of biblical study, etc, and this game is anathema to what he'd be allowed to see as a child. so there's some catharsis in playing this game for him, I think, and he plays it up a little during the streams :v:

I've started watching this and when I reached the point where a hellwave was mentioned and some guy named Hayden was making a speech about how all this demon-poo poo was totally not his fault, I started wondering why no-one so far has made an anti-doom game.

Think about it: A greedy corporation/government opens up a portal to heaven and starts exploiting its divine energy. It ends with angry angels burning down our cities and some shitfaced CEO making a speech like "Well, people of the world, I know you have probably noticed all these flying weirdos with their 44 wings floating over our cities, setting your loved ones and buildings on fire with the flaming swords in their thirteen hands, and you've probably been blinded by the laser beams they shoot out of their 78 eyes, but I'm telling you now the good news: This was 100% not my fault. In fact, if it weren't for my incompetent underlings loving things up, siphoning of energy from heaven and vivisecting captured angels would have been a great step forward for mankind"

Have you played doom 2016? That's literally the plot but hell instead of heaven.

And based on teasers for doom eternal, heaven's getting involved somehow the next go around, too.

Doom isn’t really horror themed, it’s a big ol’ power
fantasy, and a pretty good one.

I'm watching someone play it, that's as close as I'm willing to get to it. Also it's pretty weird to answer the question "Why is there X, but not Y" with "There's Y, it's like X, but with Y instead of X!"

All the NPCs will look up and shout, "Do this quest!"
and I'll whisper, "Sure, why not."
The Doom(2016)slayer even has the best moments in the game despite never uttering a word.
