shame on an IGA posted:Nah all that body work is basically tissue paper it's that you can see where the absurdly strong welded tube rollcage that is the actual frame the rest of the car is bolted to has failed in several points, particularly the way all the structure in the drivers door region is collapsed 10-12 inches behind the plane of the wheels. The halo looks like it's at jaw level for someone in the seat.

I値l admit taking NASCAR safety for granted after Austin Dillon walked away from his 2015 Daytona wreck. The crash tonight was basically a worst-case-possible scenario for the least protected area for the driver (the window net opening directly beside the seat) getting hit head-on at 200 mph by a heavy-rear end stock car.

Mike Joy was just on siriusxm He said the speed of the ambulance leaving meant the most to him He also apologized for the way Fox signed off but felt when you don't know anything you can't say anything

That is the worst possible hit in a modern cup car. Upside down so the door reinforcement and foam is not in play, driver side, after the cage has already been deformed by a prior hit. There is no god, no magic, no karma, no afterlife, no cosmic justice. Sometimes poo poo just happens and thats it.

it's probably good that they're not updating yet? I mean if he were DOA we'd probably know by now. presumably they're waiting until they assess him more, or get him into surgery, or just know more information before an official update. hopefully.

Yeah, I was thinking about this. An intact, right-side-up Cup car might be the safest racecar in the world. This one already hit the wall head on at about 200 mph and got flipped onto its roof. You can't engineer for that and the kind of hit it took.
