Modern actors are so good at their jobs. I'm sure that Ford turned in a pretty good performance, and god knows Ian McKellen did in the Hobbit movies. That's despite being surrounded by green shapes or confronted with...that.

With how different the cg looks to the mocap actor I can't see that it would help to have the actor at all? It's something for Ford to interact with I suppose, but the posture and joints don't match up with the animation in any way.

1977 Soviet Animation of Vasilisa the Beautiful though it's really the Russian Frog Princess, not sure why they used the name of a different fairy tale even in the original.

I just thought about this - I found an old VHS of this in a Deseret Industries as a kid - dubbed, and found the animation to be quite pretty and unlike anything you'd see on TV, reminds me of the old russian lacquer boxes.

Yeah this kind of stuff is mostly just to help Ford act against something and give the animators vague reference. It’s especially important for the eyelines.

Apparently, this was a surprise throughout Disney as Iger kept it under wraps exactly WHEN this was happening. He said he'd be leaving in 2021 but surprise left today.

https://deadline.com/2020/02/disney-bob-iger-successor-timing-reaction-bob-chapek-1202868321/

Also this happened right after Dan DiDio was fired/quit/no one knows honestly from DC Comics.

There's tons of rumors on the latter and people don't know what's happening on the former.

Though what is certain, Disney will just keep buying everything forever since, unlike DiDio, Iger is still with Disney. He's in control of their creative indeavors team.

Recently rewatched An Extremely Goofy Movie after 15 years or so of not seeing it, and there's a lot of animator fetishes being fueled by all the dog women.

Also, what's the explanation for the shading differences between A Goofy Movie and An Extremely Goofy Movie?

A Goofy Movie looks like a standard Disney film, but Extremely has every character being backlit despite the light source of the scene? So everyone looks shiny? But also flat?

Goofy:

Extremely:

Both were made by Disney's secondary animation studios and not the main one, but the quality drop is crazy.

I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG, BROTHER!
I mean, one was a theatrical movie and one was straight to DVD

I'm not a huge fan of the second one for various reasons, but the first movie is basically a perfect movie. I love that the movie is able to get you to sympathize with both Goofy AND Max when they could so easily have had Max come off as just annoying and ungrateful. They also do a good job with handling Roxanne where she's actually a good character, for how little screentime she has.

I love when they're on the rapids and Max is like "I have my own life now dad!" and Goofy is like "I know that! I just want to be a party of it! You're my son Max. No matter how old you get, you'll always be my son". :qq:

edit: Oh and the scene between Goofy and Pete in the hot tub at the motel is so loving good

Popular belief is Peg divorced him and he took PJ and she took the daughter.

There’s a weird moment in Extremely where they queue up Goofy and Max to talk about Max’s mom and they kinda just end the scene instead.
