Find which one you like best? I think the CTR and N are closest in terms of what they are but the Yaris GR is a new beast and the Golf R is the most sedate (stock).

So pissed but not surprised that NA isn't getting the Yaris GR

seems pretty pricey on the other hand dang

a car that small with AWD seems pretty unique though

I don't think it's bad, about on par with the TypeR in terms of styling imo.

I understand it's to make a "safe"car that will appeal to the lowest common denominator, but I can't wrap my head around the mindset of the folks that find a crossover appealing.

It’s for people who a car is just like a washing machine or a fridge. Pile Jayden and Fraiden and Asfdaiden into it and away you go.

Same, I think the CTR looks neat, but I'm too old to drive something that looks like that.

Also, the GTI Mk.8 was revealed today.

I seriously see a squinting catfish. Especially when the fogs aren't on. Long unbroken grills like that are not good.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of that, I like the headlights though. Also, they now have a little tiny shift nob for the DSG which looks ridiculous, and removed most of the physical buttons from the interior. I think the digital cluster is really neat looking, but I don't like when they move functions that were once buttons to touch.

So VW really did realize that they created the platonic ideal of a hatchback in 2003, and have just been updating the features and looks a little bit each time since then? If so they're definitely right.

I honestly didn't care for the digital cluster in the R I test drove. I know I would have gotten used to it, but the gauges lacked any perception of depth and it was super weird.

That's interesting, I'll have to swing by the dealer and see if they let me turn one on. I wanted to fit the R cluster in to my GTI and it's a pretty simple process, but I guess I should look at it in person first.

Is there a cheat sheet for dropping wheel sizes?

I'm considering dropping from the stock 20 inch wheels On my type R to an 18 Inch Wheel but I don't have too much clearance to drop a lot of ride height to get out of my steep driveway

The sums are really easy to do manually? Just take your existing tyre specs e.g. 235/45 and do the calculation to figure the sidewall height, i.e. 235*.45=105.75mm. Add 25.4mm to that number to take into account your wheel radius dropping by an inch.

Now find 18 inch tyre sizes which get you a sidewall height as close as possible to 131.15mm.

If you’re wanting to figure out how the wheels you’re looking at will fit overall as well the tyres then there are websites like willtheyfit.com where you can punch all of the numbers in and it will give you a graphical representation of everything.

You can compare sizes and they have a conversion tool.

245 40 18 is a 2mm diameter difference. You'll be fine.

to my knowledge TireRack's database is pretty decent as well. Just plug in your model year and trim and it'll filter the wheel sizes based on stock brake clearances and I think wheel offset.

I've thought about it as well, the car already has pretty good power for an econobox so the supercharger would make it a legit hot hatch.

Already planning on some good summer rubber, a TRD rear sway bar and maybe some springs. These cars actually handle pretty decent with good tires.
