IIRC the anime distribution model is so laser-focused in Japan at otaku with nothing else to spend their money on they've had trouble with reverse importing of the more reasonably priced Western releases.

Between work, Grad School Application bullshit, and other life stuff, it's hard to hop onto finding new artists or even finding out bands that I like dropped new stuff year. In fact, I'll go weeks without listening to music. I'll have headphones or audio in the car, but it's just podcasts.
