Well, Twitch has probably finally hit the point where it needs to choose to be a gaming or porn site.

A self described "3d rendered hentai camgirl" that started on charurbate is the number 5 viewed channel on the site, getting a constant stream of subscriptions, with jiggle physics that makes DoA blush and the most sickening childlike voice you can imagine.

This might be hard for you to believe but...Sometimes adult women have voices like that. She obviously is also doing a 'character' but 'sickeningly childlike' is some insane poo poo to say given all the adult women I know who have similar voice pitch.

Unless I tuned in when she was speaking differently?? Only watched like 3mins of the stream.

It's not the pitch. It's literally everything else. The affected slurring, the verbiage, the deliberate aping of every child character in animation.

I'll have to take your word for it since I'm not terribly interested in watching a 3d model play games or whatever. I just didn't really see that in the little I watched.

just finished watching Joseph Anderson's FTL streams and it's probably my favorite of the initially-blind streams he's done that I've watched outside of Recettear. He is just having a good time instead of nitpicking everything and it's great. His son comes in on stream a few times and it's the cutest thing, his son is...2 I think at the time, and when asked to say "microphone", he says "monkeytown", it's cute as hell

I really enjoyed FTL when I played it way back when, beat it on hard mode with almost every version of every ship. Engi B and Stealth B can gently caress off.

NyxFears/May put out a low key video chatting about Hell Fest, a movie she really liked. Content includes talk about haunted houses, the aesthetic and whether fun subject matter and a cool aesthetic are making her assign significance and meaning to a dumb horror movie that might not deserve it. It's a fun little video, although she does spoil the ending, if that matters to you .

Also, RLM put out a new Best of the Worst and I figured I'd share it for the people like me who don't watch the other thread. It's a really good one. They found a movie that's about as loving wild as Ryan's Babe.

Lupa did a video on Robot in the Family many years ago. Apparently the movie was hacked apart in editing to make it kid-friendly and focus more on the robot, which helps explain its dreamlike structure.

I hope they do get around to reviewing Legend of the Rings at some point. That sounds like prime riff material.

To be fair Star Wars previously spent three decades explaining everything you didn't need to know about via comics, novels and RPG supplements. I doubt there was anyone seen on screen that didn't have an official backstory by the time the old continuity got binned. If twitter had been around in the 80s/90s then Bantam Books and Lucasfilm would have been info blasting everyone constantly as well.

I think the difference is that those were coming off the films at least a decade after Return of the Jedi came out. There were definitely comics and books before the Thrawn Trilogy but they were more side adventures than an obsession with filling in missing film details. And the books that did get hyper focused on minutiae were not being sold as damage control for an undercooked overstretched Frankenstein movie like TROS.

I think the worst the old EU got for filling in poo poo nobody needed was Labyrinth of Evil, the direct lead-in to Revenge of the Sith. Now Labyrinth of Evil's second half is actually a pretty compelling story about a security officer on Coruscant following up on leads and discovering Palpatine's lair, interspersed with Anakin and Obi Wan getting sent on a red herring mission so Palps can move into his endgame. The trouble is that the first half of the book reads like a sales magazine preview of all the new spaceships and characters who will be featured in Episode 3 and it's loving terrible.

TOXIC
One end of the spectrum you get Clone Wars, fleshing out the setting in a compelling, naturalistic way and giving spotlight to the less focused on parts of the franchise, filling in massive timeskips and showing the greater workings of Palpatine's scheme. poo poo like the arc where a Clone Trooper discovers the control chip in his head and just how deep the conspiracy goes, that kinda thing.

The the other hand you have the Star Wars Twitter desperately telling you that Palatine did not actually gently caress like a beast and it was actually a failed clone who seemingly wasn't an evil gremlin man wait where are you going please come bac-

Anderson is weird because his novels tend to be terrible (even if I legitimately enjoy how loving stupid the Jedi Academy and Darksaber books are) but his work with the old Republic comics in the 90s is pretty drat creative.

I don't remember a whole lot from that anthology, but yeah that the story you're talking about tells us he's the guy who figured out that AT-ATs could be tripped (because nobody figured that out earlier, I guess) and being summarily punished by being removed from tactical school or whatever and made a sand-grubbing Stormtrooper I've never forgotten.

Primarily for games because it's a way for them to alter the structure of a level. One of the old EU X-Wing books has them in X-Wings just utterly destroying AT-ATs with a call back to how this isn't going to be like Hoth.
