Oh nice, that's a good one. I don't pay attention to the regular feed since ad-free is in the short rest feed

Man, you can really feel dice christ's presence in this latest episode, it's a good one.

I also appreciate that Murph made up a lore-appropriate reason to make it so that you can't just resurrect people, that seems like a weird thing with D&D. You want the stakes to be high in the endgame, but that also seems to be the point where the players have access to the most options that make death meaningless

After listening to the Short Rest, I really hope the next live tour has alternate routes for Moonshine dying and coming back as a Circle of WIldfire Druid/Revenant and Moonshine being the one to pull Balnor from the bag, so he comes out as a Cooter-type hillbilly friend instead of the Balnor we know and love. Also, after the last few episodes of Critical Role, I really want Emily to guest star at some point, just to see Laura Bailey and Emily Axford team up in the Chaos Crew. Throw in Alex Lee of the Dragon Friends and/or Michael Hing for maximum chaos.

emily/murph doing ff6 is extremely on brand

(also: they must be doing even better than I thought if they're at the "hiring multiple people to make a demo to pitch" stage)

I'm not entirely sure I'd actually enjoy that. If it's playing a party of the 3 Boobs and maybe some of the known allies, then a lot of the fun is lost because the interactions of the cast on the fly to the things Murph introduces are such a major part of the podcast and if it's just something using new characters in the setting then Bahumia itself isn't actually that interesting as a setting. If it's expansive enough of a game to include Shadowfell, the One/Nine Hells etc. then I'd be on-board, because Murph's take on those is really interesting and I'd imagine it'd be a great place to explore further in game but the material plane of Bahumia itself is pretty generic outside the cast that it's introduced. Beyond making the Dwarves slavic instead of Scottish like most people do, or that introduction of Crick and Field Elves instead of Wood Elves it's pretty normal for fantasy settings. It's characters like Lucanus and his exuberant nerdiness, the various Petri's etc. that really make the setting fun and I feel like a lot of the fun dynamic that makes the Podcast might be lost in a scripted format where they have to work that stuff out before hand. That said, if there's any part of Bahumia that's different to the norm in notable ways it's the Crick; just because Emily has warped it so much over the course of the show and introduced so much random poo poo for the sake of a laugh or to annoy and/or make work for Murph.

It's strong out of the gate imo and there is a persistent story arc (and more importantly, an evolving meta layer of fun that comes out of the way that one of the players behaves that's going to be more rewarding if you start from the beginning).

That said, if for some reason season 1 isn't grabbing you, I'd recommend jumping ahead to season 2 and see if that does it; the production quality gets a bit better, and season 2 is when they introduce another PC to the group, which strengthens the ensemble (although criminally, ben jenkins is largely absent from like the first 5 episodes of season 2, and I think he's a big part of what makes the show so funny).

Not A doctor, THE Doctor!
Emily, Murph and Caldwell are doing a playthrough of the cursed Sonic adventure game book from 8BBC, as a series of isolation streams. There's been two so far and in the most recent one, Jake - unable to defend himself from the chat - got borderline cyberbullied.

Note: If you were the one who hated the chaotic lack of focus from Eight Bit Book Club - sorry, but the streams channels it exactly.

It baffles me that they were still in the dome so long after Collegehumour was downsized to like, three people.

I occasionally have an extraordinarily pointless worry that the people involved in something I like are getting bored of it, but drat. Nobody does anything for eight hours who doesn't find it worthwhile.

What's actually happening with all the College Humor content now? More specifically, what's happening with all the previous season of Dimension 20, since I've only seen the first few episodes and really should get around to checking it all out at some point. Um, Actually is quite fun too, but I know there's already a good bit of content for that up on YouTube.

I was skeptical of sweet-themed Game of Thrones, but it turns out I was wrong and stupid, and it's loving dope already. I can't wait to find out what part made them cry. Zac plays a good rear end in a top hat and Lou plays a great idiot.
