The 2008 Atlanta tornado fouled up the SEC final four, plus one quarterfinal game. Since the Georgia Dome was significantly damaged, everything was moved to Georgia Tech. As the seating was much, much smaller, crowds were restricted to media, cheerleaders, pep bands and those with a significant connection to the events - families and probably some big money boosters. Georgia played two games in one day because the NCAA refused to allow the SEC to declare co-champions and still get an automatic bid. Georgia won its second and last SEC title because of the momentum of that tornado. Kentucky fans in particular were quite pissed they couldn't buy their way into the quarterfinal Georgia game.

i seem to recall that a few of the boosters still got in, but what i've seen in other countries suggests that they're taking this more seriously than when games are played with closed doors for other reasons espn also told me that the big west tournament is being played without spectators and the ivy league tournament is canceled
