It's not that he feels like he wants to be set in his ways, it's that he has nothing to be passionate about, and has no drive towards a goal. He wants certainty of purpose. Nah, anomie means not knowing what is normal, or not getting an idea what normal expectations are from society (as opposed to what is theoretically possible) The theory is that it causes suicide because it destroys people’s ability to form realistic expectations, and leaves them either having fantasies that don’t come true or just having no value in the future at all. Overconsumption of anime probably causes anomie.
