Do you find something comical about my appearance when I'm driving my automobile?
I liked the Touch. It wasn't his best film, but it had something, a spark. It's not brilliant. Elliot Gould is a fantastic actor.

Have any Tarkovsky fans read Roadside Picnic? I know the earlier version of Stalker is a little more faithful but is it a good read on its own?

It's great. Better than the movie.

I have a book of interviews with Bergman, and there's one where he's talking to a classroom. The students are asking him questions, and a few are asking him about The Touch, so Bergman says something like "why are you all asking me about this dismal failure of a movie"?. Apparently, they had been watching four or so of his films in class to prep for the interview, two of which were The Touch and Face to Face, and when they tell Bergman this, he says "I really wish your teacher had picked better films".

I just read it about a month ago and kind of agree, it’s really excellent sci-fi.

Oh yeah, any and all recommendations will be great during quarantine. I’m hoping I can roll through the Tarkovsky moves I’ve yet to see.

I would like to rev The Invention of Destruction. A Czech fantasy movie that is an amalgam of Jules Verne tropes made to look like a married to the sea comic come to life. There’s great stop motion and model work that brings me back to old Lumiere Bro’s films.

The Tubi selection is fantastic, but the ads do get annoying after a while. The quality of each title is also a total crapshoot.

The Shout TV channel is nice though. There’s also a Full Moon Features channel if you’re nostalgic for some 90s megatrash.

Only 13 I haven't seen: Breaking the Waves, Certified Copy, Clouds of Sils Maria, Fish Tank, Jeanne Dielman, La Promesse, Naked, The Piano Teacher, Stranger Than Paradise, L'avventura, The Thin Blue Line, White Material, Wings of Desire, and Yi Yi.

All are on my watch list except for Fish Tank and La Promesse, which I've now corrected.
