Asakusa wrapped in her blanket is a major Mood.

Sad to see this show go but excited to hear that they licensed the manga

Edit: Oh god! How could I forget to mention Kanamori loving band sawing her way into the room to unlock the door and kick her way in? I had to rewind it and show my roommate. This show is too good

What an excellent show, even the anime within the anime is awesome, AOTY material for sure.

my least favorite part of the eizouken finale was they spent two eps explaining the setting and i still thought the way they communicated the backstory in their short was confusing

good show overall though, hope they decide to do another season some time because the group dynamic is extremely good

And the way it ended does nothing to weaken either feeling. The ending doesn't feel like an ending... but it also isn't a bad place to stop.

The final product was beautiful but without the context of the show it didn't make a lick of sense lol

Anyway this anime kicked rear end

Well, it wasn't the whole anime. The Eizouken made a full length OVA, complete with voice acting. What we got was a very compressed version of that.

I was wondering how the changed finale was like half the film but I realised they rejigged things so the POW capture happened right at the end. Good job Asakusa.

I think the most fascinating part of the finale was the way the ending and the message changed in the process of hastily producing the final product. It went from optimistic hope that we'll someday be able to see the humanity inherent in our most dire of enemies to a more somber examination of how your best-laid plans won't turn out the way you wanted, and that a momentous undertaking will cost more than you're initially prepared to pay. Definitely feels like the tumultuous creative process bled a little into that ending.

Still, everything seems to have worked out for the better, even if it didn't work out for the very best. The ending was a little wobbly, but overall, I like this series a lot and I'd kill for another season of these three fun and colorful girls doing their thing.

However, I will admit that I laughed out loud at them pulling out their umbrellas to shield themselves from the big issues because of that one Onion comic about Whiskey Sours.

Now that you put it that way, I'm kind of stunned I've not seen an edit of that scene that references that comic.

This was really great but it was over so quick, too! Whether there's another season or not, I'm happy, but I definitely have an appetite for more. Pretty glad to see the manga is going to get officially localised too, so at least I can follow the trio there if the anime doesn't continue. I'm going to miss this show.
