What's this brouhaha about GTA6? I keep seeing a comparison between an in-game racetrack and some US geography, touted as a quasi confirmation. They barely look alike even for a blind person.

I'm reinstalling GTA5 mostly just to drive around looking at stuff while listening to chill music.

Is GTA Redux the best option for a graphical overhaul? Or is it out of date / lacking stuff? I don't mind getting my hands dirty installing individual mods, within reason. I don't even know if I'm gonna do any missions so really I just care about visuals / lighting / weather / atmosphere etc.

I totally get the desire to just drive around while listening to chill music, it's one of the things I use empty FiveM servers for, since they usually offer a good selection of cars I haven't tried before.

It quite clearly states that it's not just a graphical overhaul :v:
Jokes aside, since it was updated last December, I don't really think it's out-of-date and the last time I tried it (which was admittedly before last December) it worked as fine as I'd expect it to on my aging machine.

is arena war fun enough to justify getting into it or does nobody ever play it unless it's got a bonus week?

e: I'm pretty cash poor, like $1.2 million and have only done the first heist, so I've got tons of content to go through... if that changes any suggestions

There are much better things to spend money on. Recommend spending money on things that will earn you money - which is not ArenaWars.

Fwoderwick
Jul 14, 2004

I bought the Arena War workshop just now as the last of the major content properties I didn't own and that's the level of importance I'd give it. Getting access to the RC car so I have another weekly time trial to do was the main draw but given that thing costs a million this week at a 33% reduction I can't even recommend it for that.

BonerKid

Don't buy the arena garage until you have some solid income. The arena property will not make you any money and after mods the arena war vehicles are some of the most expensive in the game

I really enjoy the arena war game modes and think the vehicles are amazingly fun, it's just not worth it until you already own all of the money making businesses that you want.

My understanding is that it's purely based on what you've spent the most time riding around on. But in an absolute sense like since you first started playing, not in some sort of weekly evaluation.

I never got into the heists or owning property in GTA Online, I usually just played the racing games, only have $1.2 million on me atm
But I want to set up the Nightclub to earn cash.
Quick question, do you lose anything form resigning as VIP, as the Motorcycle club I bought needs me as President and I cant change to that unless I resign.

Fwoderwick
Jul 14, 2004

All you really lose is the VIP specific abilities (like doing VIP work, hiring associates, spawning certain vehicles etc). If you happen to own a buzzard and use the VIPs ability to spawn it out their arse then losing that option will be the biggest loss, although you could dump the (sizeable) cash on an oppresser mk2 to mimic the exact same thing as an MC president.

If there's ever a point where I'm doing both CEO(VIP+office) work and MC/Bunker/Nightclub work then there's no harm in swapping back and forth between the roles.

As an aside, I like the nightclub update a lot and it's made me a lot of money, but that's via AFKing overnight to let it create stock. Otherwise it's a lot of in-game time to break even. That said you can't put a monetary value on "having something to do in GTAO" so I don't agree with anyone who writes it off because it doesn't instantly make them huge fortunes.

Yeah, keep in mind for the Nightclub to really make money by itself you'll need -

* Crate Warehouse or Hangar (Requires CEO office + warehouse or Hangar)
* Guns (Requires bunker)
* Cocaine, Meth and counterfeit cash MC Businesses (Requires MC clubhouse and the applicable MC Business)

If you're willing to leave the game running while you sleep, you'll make around a million every 12 hours or so doing this.

That said, the Terrorbyte is a pretty good way to actively make money - you get $30k for 2-5 minutes worth of work on the missions you unlock there.

If you're looking to make money, I'd probably recommend waiting on the Nightclub - I'd invest in a vehicle warehouse first (Make $100k per car sale once you have it set up properly) and/or a bunker. Gun cargo is fairly easy to run and you can limit the vehicles to one if you want to do it yourself. MC Businesses have a terrible return, the only reason to have them IMHO is to supplement the nightclub.

GTA Online is the game of you have to have a ton of money to make a little money.

As someone who bought all the moneymaking businesses last year (except vehicle warehouse, it has never been on sale:argh: ) I recommend the bunker if you can buy it discounted. It's a grind like the others and it lacks the flash of the night club, but imo it has the most chill selling missions (mostly you're just driving somewhere to drop stuff off, though a few of them also require combat) and the resupply missions can actually be kinda fun from time to time.

Also, this is probably already a known thing but it took me way too long to realize: if you're like me and buy everything cheap so half of it ends up being far away, if you own a casino penthouse you can fast travel using the hotel concierge to get to Paleto Bay/Sandy Shores/Grapeseed/that one vineyard near the military base instantly.

That's helpful but the biggest problem with those far away ones isn't getting there, it's moving the product when you're selling. You can sometimes solo run 2-3 vehicles from the Chumash bunker, but doing Paleto Bay is a nightmare. If you're just now buying them, don't buy far away. Spend the money for a better one. I say this as someone that bought everything cheap at first and then moved to better places heh.

Edit - I should point out that this is for businesses I actually sell from, the MC businesses I only use for nightclub so they're the cheapest ones.

I've been working from home for almost a month now and I leave my game AFK like this to fill up nightclub while I work and have made bank. This works even better if you're still filling and selling your bunker and MC businesses because you can get 2 full resupplies for 90k.

To pay 90k for 2 full resupplies do this:

1. Buy supplies for all your businesses at 75k
2. Wait until resupplies are delivered
3. Wait until your businesses use up 1 tick of the supplies
4. Buy supplies for all your businesses at 15k
5. Before supplies deliver start a missing from the jobs menu, I like "Blow Up"
6. Go to your apartment and watch TV to prevent being booted for inactivity
7. Wait 2-3 hours or however long it takes your businesses to use all supplies
8. Finish job

Now you get your second full resupply delievered and you only paid 15k for it!

Fwoderwick
Jul 14, 2004

Yeah I came back to this in the last couple of months and have been doing exactly that. It really makes MC businesses a lot more worth it.

Although I also found running 5+ businesses you actively sell from is a very easy way to burn out so I've currently got the MC businesses empty and just fueling the nightclub until a bonus week comes around.

Does anyone else remember Team Mafiya Work from GTA4? Its a shame they never brought anything like that to 5.

Two (or more) teams, up to 32 players total. Everyone gets a call at the same time for the same mission and you fight for it, thats it. It was so fun and hectic though.

Golden setting was to for the host to turn off the other teams radar blips, so you knew where your team was but not the other. The best kind of assholey for me was getting a good lead going, and then getting to the missions first via heli and just camping waiting for the first enemy to show up surprising him with an rpg instead of doing the mission. :getin:

There was always a core group of people playing and you could usually find a game or two going. RIP games for windows live.

Did anyone else randomly get $500K upon logging in this week?

Also, are the special orders in the nightclub sell page randomized, or is each buyer always looking for the same 3 products? I was hoping to find a coke/meth/cash buyer as those 3 bars fill up before cargo and guns, but that combo never shows up when I'm playing. Do they rotate on a fixed schedule?

Fwoderwick
Jul 14, 2004

Apparently everyone logging in in April gets $500k. Very kind of Rockstar to give us all $10 dollars worth (lol) of in game currency.

I'm honestly not sure what the rhyme or reason behind the special orders is, I've just assumed it's random and my purely anecdotal opinion on them is they aren't worth worrying about. So far I've made over 10 million from nightclub cargo sales and in that time have noticed two (2) special orders I could fulfil and both were only for something small like $150k, so the gain for going through an extra sell mission was only $10-15k.

I have what I believe is the optimum setup which is hanger/special cargo+bunker+coke+meth+cash, maximum storage and I just sell when products start to hit their limits which is ~100 crates and nets you around $600k. The special orders seem to always require weed or document forgery and/or much larger quantities of the products that take longer to fill.

There's an argument for owning those two extra MC businesses and swapping around your technicians but I believe it's diminishing returns for time spent. Plus I've had the bug where a technician you assign doesn't produce any stock and so I choose not to shake the Rockstar code more than I have to. :rockstar:

I found out that if you un-assign/reassign all of the nightclub techs after a sale it stops the bug.

I used to have the same problem, and I thought they'd patched it but I still do my sell/un-assign/reassign dance out of superstition. Worked perfectly ever since.
