It's the ultimate selfless act in an experiment designed to promote selfishness. It's also a bit of a joke about social mobility. For all The Platform condemns capitalism, it equally condemns socialism, both fail in the movie for the same reason, greed and fear.

The regulation around private ownership of exotic animals is lax enough as it is in the US. There is no money in preserving great swaths of land to be able to sustain big cats that (according to the show) need 400 square miles of territory each.

More Taskmaster, obviously. There's a US version that wasn't very good; the episodes were a half hour which really hurt it. But, if you're OK with subtitles, there's: Stormester https://mega.nz/#F!w4FWACxC!WyNUXtoSWgx5dTdLPhlY6A - the Danish one and our current favourite, very good subtitles Best i Test https://mega.nz/#F!t9UzkYqB!agt1WGPUOUs-AoS926o74g - Swedish, pretty good but we're currently trying to watch season 2 and the subtitles are hosed up which makes it tricky Kongen Befaler https://mega.nz/#F!Ut0FmQwA!8W8_y5qVatVMSapyr_Fgcg - Norwegian, it's a good one but only 1 season so far Dicho y Hecho https://mega.nz/#F!ZpchUIYT!XHpGnXtSFnJaRy0BTYqWXw - Spanish. Watched one episode. Didn't like it at all. Maybe you will. I think there's going to be a NZ one at some point but not out yet.

These points might be fair, they're kind of apples and oranges but they're also both Narnia-ish and I watched them close together so they'll be locked together in my mind forever. The Magicians is kind of an ensemble gossipy drama, and a lot of the suuuuper clever dialogue just missed me. Locke and Key is a much more self serious show that doesn't really start to get dumb until you start to see the lady in the well a bunch. The characters make all the wrong decisions, but so do most characters in most things, at least to an extent, just to drive the story forward.

The legislation they're trying to get passed would shut down competition while allowing her to continue through some loophole, same as any other business tries to do.

Saw that "The Master" was on Netflix and gave it a watch. Does anyone know if most of the movie is improvised? I feel like pretty much any scene where Joaquin Phoenix is talking to someone was just made up on the spot. Maybe that's the point, (like Philip Seymour Hoffman's character is just making everything up), but it made for a movie that just felt like it didn't have a strong point.

I wanted to give some shout outs to some really surprising finds, and see if anything else would be recommended. Shows The Good Place - A girl finds herself in heaven by mistake and has to figure out how to become a good enough person to stay. I was not expecting "my philosophy degree - the show" to be so goddamn funny. Killing Eve - I guess I like psychopaths? The antagonist in this show is amazing, and i love the whole "standard spy / assassin plot, but done by women" aspect of it. Very refreshing take. Tabula Rasa - Probably the best whodunit i've seen in a long time. Think memento, with its crazy twists and memory shenanigans, but done as a 9 part miniseries. Movies Mr. Right - This movie is waaaaay better than it has any right to be. It has Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick basically being themselves in a modern take on "woman falls in love with a hitman". Gross Point Blanke did it better, but this is still really drat good. I've been unemployed for the last few months, so I've watched quite a bit other than this but these are the highlights. Anyone have any recommendations for shows/movies that are similar in theme?

There are thematic reasons why that kept happening, but that doesn't make it something I want to watch.

The only part I thought really dragged in The Good Place was the brief stretch in season 3 where they are on earth trying take their family members better people. Otherwise I thought it was a pretty well paced series.

I was surprised the show thought i appreciated Tahani and Jason so much i wanted time devoted to them and their relationship Eventually even Janet jokes wore out their welcome for me and i really enjoyed those Overall its the kind of show i thought was competent but sorta whatever. Like what the average show SHOULD be instead of garbo. But at the same time comedy is so subjective, i laugh at a lot of silly poo poo.

I think the novelty just wore off too fast for The Good Place. Maybe they should have saved the big reveal for the season 2 finale or something. Then you might not have had the constant memory-wipe poo poo that plagued the last few seasons.

The Good Place, like most Schur produced shows, was all about the characters, and how much you enjoy it is going to depend on how you like seeing them interact with each other.
