Yeah.

I'm starting to wonder if that was in the game and Nemesis was more like Mr. X originally but it didn't playtest well, so the extreme linearity was cobbled together to fix that.

I feel like people overstate the original RE3's linearity, once you're at the cable car you had to backtrack all across the map and could get the fuse, oil and cable in any order and where you went first decided what story events would happen and where Nemesis would appear. I only just recently learned that Nemesis can appear in the substation instead of the sales office if you choose to escape the zombies instead of electrocuting them.

The remake seems like it's just linear corridors with one moment of non-linearity which coincidentally was the entirety of the demo until the very end.

something that really sticks out to me is how much it heavily leans on your knowledge of the original, from the nonsequitur character appearances, to even how since theres no intro movie showing the rpd getting mowed down and the ubcs operation ultimately going to poo poo so when carlos and mikhail show up its like "oh we've been here all along and you just missed us"

also the intro makes jill come off as hilariously unaware since if you walk near the window of her apartment she comments on the sirens like "huh i wonder whats going on"

She's a PTSD mess with a conspiracy-theory wall and a rainbow of pills on her nightstand. I can just about buy that she hasn't been outside her apartment in a while.

Had more fun with the Resistance beta than I expected, despite the limited options. Close games are sort of few and far between though, as a Mastermind either its a complete stomp stage 1 or early 2 or everything I place gets stomped without any casualties and I get nothing done, but those down to the wire games are real good. I'll probably spend more time with this than I expected, looking forward to playing a non-Daniel mastermind at this point.

Yeah, this is my experience. Either you stomp the poo poo out of them, or nothing you do even breaks their stride.

It was an article in Official Xbox Magazine.

I had a pretty good time with my first runthrough. It's not as solid of a product as RE2make, and I probably would recommend waiting for a sale or price drop, but I liked most of it. There were a few parts where you could see quick patchwork over cut stuff, probably because a chunk of the budget got siphoned off to Resistance. It's also weird that on PS4, Re3 and Resistance are two separate games that just come bundled together. I'd have preferred to just buy RE3 for like 30 or maybe 40 bucks.

My first run was a little under 6 hours accounting for deaths, which is about the same as my first run of RE2make's A scenario. But I definitely see why ImpAtom said it feels shorter. They really rush through plot beats, especially at the start. You interact with Dario for roughly the same amount of time as in the original, but now you encounter him while running through in a mad dash so it feels like even more of an afterthought than it did back in 1998. Some of the changes to plot beats I liked, for example I liked that the hospital got more fleshed out and had a solid atmosphere. You really notice the missing bits, though.

I really hope the dodge system doesn't just stay in this game. Once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun. If the continue more action-oriented stuff in side games like Revelations, Valentime would fit right in. It does make me miss Mercenaries even more, though. I hope they support the single player stuff like they did with Lost Survivors and add some bonus modes, but they're probably gonna pour money into a multiplayer mode that'll be dead in a month instead.

Nemmy is fun to fight. He's waaaaaay more scripted than Mr. X, but he's got a lot of panache. The bosses in this game are almost all more fun than RE2make, and I liked most of the bosses in RE2. One thing I did not mind them ditching: Gravedigger. Nobody liked fighting Gravedigger

Of course, if this thread hadn't lowered my expectations appropriately, I'd probably be a lot more disappointed.

it also takes like 15-25 minutes to get a game right now, but it is an ungodly hour, so hopefully that's better tomorrow

I also want to mention the music. The only songs from the original that stuck with me are Nemmy's theme and the safe room music. The safe room music in the remake is largely untouched, which is good because it's my favorite SR tune in the whole series, but everything else has these awesome grimey synths behind it, this weird electronic dread lurking underneath the explosions and gunfire. It's like John Carpenter scored a Resident Evil game and I am super into it.

I've been replaying ogRE3 and this is correct. There's some mini-sandbox elements and even parts outside live selection events which play out with different cutscenes and parts depending on what order you do them in. The fact that this game got even more butchered than RE2Remake is disappointing.

Still wound up getting this. I figure that if I go and get all the trophies like I did with 2, there’ll probably be enough to do to justify the price.

I will not be satisfied unless i can imagine a womans vagina every second in the game that i play.To take that away from me is to breach my human rights!
When i play as a sl- female i don't look anywhere on the screen except where her vagina would be,i literally cannot play games.

It’s too bad there’s literally no pornography of fictional characters anywhere on the internet, so the only way to get off is with upskirts in video games. For shame, Capcom.

Thanks. Yeah, I saw the banner that said "essentials first" so I figured, but my payment was declined initially because I hosed up and I'm not sure how to verify that it got cleared up after I paid. No biggie.

I remember back in the day how you’d get people who when available, would only play very scantily clad female characters claiming “if I have to stare at my characters arse for hours I want it to be a sexy one!”

Like why are you looking at the arse all the time rather than what you’re supposed to be doing?

Oh yeah regarding Amazon - my physical copy came through fine. I’m in the south east UK so not sure if that’s why it’s different.

Skorts are period for Midwest America in the 90s.

It's much more accurate for Jill to be wearing a skort.

They would have been just as pissed if they had kept the mini skirt but had Jill wear something like "biking shorts" underneath or altered camera angles so that upskirts were impossible. In fact aren't "biking shorts" or what ever you want to call them what Tifa got in the FFVII remake?

Finished my first playthrough on hardcore. time was about 4 and a half hours, was alright. I posted a few days ago that I figured it'd be less good than RE2 but that I'd expected that and would probably still play the poo poo out of it but I probably won't play it as much as RE2, it's more like an Uncharted, the coolest parts are setpieces you won't enjoy as much a second time and then there's a few really annoying parts that I'd hate to do again. Might do Nightmare mode with some of the unlocks maybe but some of the achievements I really enjoyed getting in RE2 I would hate to try and get here I think.

End of the game stuff Nikolai not getting horribly killed kind of annoyed me and then the weird gunfight and reverse hostage taking thing at the end felt kind of lame. Glad the railgun was still in but wish it had been in a room with a bunch of tyrants and dead marines, always loved that weird detail at the end of RE3 but not that important ultimately. I think one more area near the end similar in length to the hospital that wasn't a lab or a sewer would have greatly improved the game.

It's been a term since I was in middle school and they were the 'in' thing for a bit in the 90s.

Finished my first play through and I like it, its a good game that for sure had some troubled development with what looks like sections cut out. RE3 was my first RE game so it holds a special place in my heart and some of the cuts and content jumps are so weird and disjointed. The main one being the whole push of the original game was making it to the clock tower to get the evac choppers and then watching them get blown out of the sky really hit and you were like OK BUDDY IMA HAVE TO REALLY MURDER YOU WONT I?

This game doesnt have the same driving push for me at least and the tone seems disjointed, nemesis hounding you feels great though! on a first playthrough it really feels like he is just hounding you like some hosed up zombie terminator more so than even the original RE3.
