I'm actually kinda surprised they're upset by this. I'd assumed that this sort of "changing the character" BS outrage would be asymmetric: they'd be outraged if the woman's outfit covered more, but embrace the change if, say, the developers decided, gently caress it, Jill Valentine is just wearing a bikini now (probably claiming that it shows how confident she is or some crap.) But it looks to me like those shorts are actually shorter than the original skirt. I guess not having any promise of up-skirt shots trumps everything even though the camera would likely prevent it completely?

I feel disgusting even writing about this, god gamers are terrible.

There are somehow eight eager internets where you can go find and get all the Jill Valentine porn you want if you could be assed to use google and yet here we are.

It's like being a woman to them just means having to be hot 24/7 from 5 to I dunno, 30? Is that too generous?

Why is the one guy blaming Sony? Do they think Sony pressured Capcom into making the change or do they just not understand Sony didn't make the game?

Also I just sort of assumed there would be at least one thirsty rear end alternate costume, but I haven't played any games since 5, did Capcom stop doing that?

It's basically rehashing the whole "mobile phones give you cancer" scare that's been going around the past thirty years. 5G is in the gigahertz range so is a little closer to the level where radiation gets really dangerous, but ionising radiation is typically in the petahertz or exahertz range.

5G can still heat body tissue, but you'd probably have to be within arms reach of a cell tower to get radiation burns, if that.

Your mobile phone uses microwaves. Microwaves are lower frequency than visible light, and even the highest frequency 5G signals are lower frequency than infra red radiation (which is again lower frequency than visible light). Low frequency electromagnetic waves (eg light, and anything lower frequency than that) are low energy and non-ionising. High frequency electromagneticwaves (UV, X-Ray, Gamma) are dangerous because the are ionising (and so can cause cellular damage). Microwave ovens can heat food because they set up a standing wave which makes the water molecules in your food vibrate at the anti-nodes, causing heat through friction. I'm not going to go in to standing waves here but suffice to say your mobile phone network cant easily do that.

tldr; as far as we know 5G is totally harmless, yes.

Sony started enforcing a new set of poorly documented rules around anything even slightly sexual a year or so ago that means they ban lots of things that CERO/ESRB/PEGI are fine with, a load of Japanese games have a censored release on PS4 and uncensored on Switch, but this change is on every platform so it's nothing to do with them, they've just become the boogie man for people who feel like they have to be able to play all their games one handed.

5G is a little problematic because it can interfere with weather radar, but it looks like they reached a compromise to make that less of an issue. Originally a lot of the 5G conspiracies were about that connecting it to the usual weather control/HAARP insanity, but it seems like they've all fallen back to the default "EM bad".

Speaking of which

The Cuomo Brothers Versus The President: What A Show!

quote:

President Trump is a master of the form, he is the star of every room he’s ever in, and everyone must bow before him. In TV, I learned early that fiction soon becomes reality, and many people no longer care about the difference.

Suddenly a new challenge for the President, a spawn of the coronavirus hosted by a different personality, and this show is also red-hot, riveting, watched across the nation and suddenly very influential.

It is transformative, also shaping our society and our understanding of the coronavirus, and of ourselves.

In an indirect but obvious way, it is also challenging the ethos and popularity of President Trump, and his prospects for re-election.

Without ever hardly mentioning him, this new broadcast is creating a devastating portrait of a leader struggling painfully to lead a diverse nation – half of whom he has deliberately and contemptuously alienated – at a critical time.

A lethal Pandemic isn’t really the stuff of good reality TV. It’s too heavy, too real and too frightening. So far, President Trump doesn’t seem to have found another speed.

Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York seems to understand something that no other politician or political candidate up against President Trump has yet grasped. You can’t fight a Reality TV Presidency with an argument, you have to fight it with another reality show, a newer and better one.

That's not the idiocy. This comment though:

quote:

I agree with Charlotte. Your a very good writer. 🙂 but I also disagree with a lot of this. I think..you have to take a look at America and the peoples disgust with politics as usual. The career politicians. Lobbyists. They wanted something different, and they voted him in.

So far, I dont see a mistake in that. Cuomo is doing the best he can now. I dont understand why NYC didn’t have a large medical stockpile of their own. It’s a HUGE city! One of the highest taxed states in the country. I would think..after 9/11…after Sandy..after the numerous papers written about pandemic affect on NYC…that there would have been plans in place for hospitals to be connected, stockpiles of inventory, etc. When I listen to his daily briefs…and he keeps say ventilators..send me all the ventilators…I’m like..but what about the rest of the states? People are on those ventilators for 3 to 4 weeks! Not the usual 3 to 5 days. He cant promise to share them after he is done with them. :/ no one knows when that will be. So it just seems to me that HE is the one playing “catch up”…and his comments are being used to deflect from his lack of prior preparation. He’s doing a good job catching up…but ventilaors… no one can *poof* and make them appear. And the ones he keeps saying dont work? That is not unusual. They need to be refitted…or recalibrated. Seals maybe be replaced. I do like that he said they were converting anesthesia machines and bipaps. Those will work. Hopefully hes on that.

But I guess..I’d rather deal with someone who is like Trump. All out there..this is me. Than deal with a wolf in sheeps clothing. When you never know when he’s gonna turn around and bite you. 😉

I can see the reasoning but would disagree. The hypocrite makes their own actions worse by fundamentally undercutting their reasoning. Everything they do becomes, at least in certain theories around morals, poisoned by this.

Nobody actually sees themselves as a villain. Trump doesn't go "neener neener I'm letting people die and rigging the system in my favor and nobody can do anything about it," he just bitches about being a victim whenever people expect him to be accountable to his position. An actual unapologetic villain I could at least respect for being honest, but the bad guys are bigger hypocrites if anything.

5G radiation does border on microwave radiation. It could theoretically cause irritated skin, assuming you get a harmful dose, which you might get if you spent time inside a cell tower. This hasn't been clinically disproven (last I checked), and is the worst case scenario. It's definitively nowhere near as dangerous as things like sunshine or breathing air that a car has been near.

Plus, those borderline frequencies are already reserved for satellites and airplanes, and using them for other transmissions has been straight up illegal in most countries since long before anyone ever suggested 5G phones.

Thanks for actually honestly answering my question, guys. I'm getting so much background nonsense- and some of it is actually based on a grain of truth that formed a pearl of bullshit- that I wasn't sure about any of the reasons for that one. Especially now with this Coronavirus pandemic and half our government being more worried about the economy dipping for a few months instead of the people who'll die from getting sick.

Don't know how frequent it is, but yes, genetically modified viruses can be patented just like other GMOs.

Edit: You can also patent a method of using a non-genetically modified virus for medical or other uses.
