The faces he makes while posting are inexcusable! When he writes a post his face is like a troll double checking bones to see if there's any meat left! When I post I look like a peacock softly kissing a rose! Didn't his parents provide him with a posting mirror to practice forums faces growing up?
Math thread's long gone but I stumbled on some good stuff recently.

The Gooch Palms are gonna wrap up! Such a shame, they were one of my first smaller touring acts that I got into. They’re Aussie and fun as hell.

Give ‘em a shot! Novos is such a great album.

Ok I get the Graves era Misfits hate, but there is some good poo poo mixed in there. There's 52 ways to murder anyone...

That, "Descending Angel", "Dig Up Her Bones", and "Scream" and you're in a pretty good spot for the Graves era stuff.

I wasn't aware they redid "Descending Angel" with Jerry Only on vocals and ooh boy that was not a pleasant surprise when I pulled that version up first.

also would almost recommend Evillive. The quality is terrible, but I like the energy from it and Henry Rollins on "We Are 138" is worth the trip.

AFI is one of the bands that got me into punk as a 14-year-old, along with Bad Religion and NOFX. I don't listen to them much anymore, but I'll always appreciate them for that.

They were a pretty good band during their punk days, and I even liked some of the songs of their then-recent emo/goth turn. I remember listening to Of Greetings And Goodbyes all the time.

Anthony Green did a 3-hour livestream where he just played like 50 circa survive songs and I think even a few Saosin tracks, if anyone hears of any other similar cool quarantine things like that please post them.

Holy poo poo. I wanna hear.

For what it's worth I know Ben Gibbard of Death Cab/Postal Service has been doing some quarantine music streams as well but that's less interesting. You can find them on YouTube

Nicer recordings of a bunch of old stuff, plus cleaned up versions of recent demos. Super hooky melodic punk rock with great guitar work. Mat Williams plays every instrument. He played drums in Coneheads. You really should hear this.

Fest 19 tickets went up this morning, I'm super psyched to see a ton of bands I've not seen in years (Good Riddance, Strike Anywhere, Hot Water Music, Mustard Plug etc) and check off a dream band in Samiam. Hell yeah, something actual to look forward to given I had an absolute poo poo ton of stuff in March/April that got cancelled/postponed.

I’m not trying to poop on anyone’s party but I would advise against buying tickets to anything for at least another month. We have no idea if the curve has been sufficiently flattened and while I’m not privy to your financial situation, I know I was super bummed on not jumping on MCR tix when I had the chance and now we’re facing a global recession and ticket money is safe in my savings account now.

But I also understand needing something to look forward to.

Yeah, as someone with MCR tix in September I've been suddenly super loving worried that it's either gonna get cancelled or postponed to an incompatible time for me.

That's something I've been wanting to do for 15 years, man. :smith:

I'm not above nostalgia. Also keep in mind, I've never seen them and they are my favorite band.

Plus maybe new stuff will be decent. Lord knows Blake's been through enough to give him material.

NorCal had some great punk groups in the late 80's and early 90's too.

Honestly, tough to pick between Bad Religion, Operation Ivy, Black Flag, NOFX, Pennywise, Offspring, Goldfinger, etc. from SoCal and Dead Kennedys, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Green Day from the Bay Area although SoCal probably edges it out.

Those Epitaph-style bands were a great gateway for a lot of people, including myself. Listening to NoFX and Bad Religion is what got me into punk, must have been the same for tens of thousands of other kids. Too bad most of them kept/keep releasing the same album year after year, just more overproduced and soulless each time. Looking at you, Pennywise.

I remember Fat Mike saying at one point a long time ago that they would never play the Decline live, then one time I saw them and he says "if you were dragged here and don't really like our songs, the next 20 minutes are going to suck" and they played the whole thing, with a guy bringing out a new drink for him halfway through. That still is one of my top 5 concert moments ever, just because I never thought I would see it and the place went absolutely nuts (and Mike was coherent enough to play well, which is always a crapshoot).

Well, why not. Dropkick Murphys aren't that bad, I used to listen to Worker's Song all the time as a teenager. Now instead of Irish-Americans, here's some bands from less obvious places playing folk punk:

Indonesian band doing a Celtic punk cover of a classic NYHC song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLkXn4-Dgoc

:eyepop: For those of you who don't know, Indonesia has a thriving punk and hardcore scene, and they are 1000% more legit than anything in the West. In Aceh especially they regularly get beaten and detained by religious police just for dressing and playing punk.

All-female band Brutus' Daughters from Madrid:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI4zY5FNP24

Another Spanish band, Skontra:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXQXqk3N9i8

Regardless of folk or not, Spain owns, and the Basque Country in particularly has like 1.5 kickass punk bands per capita. Kortatu:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeiRte6oLs8

When you hear that UK Subs intro and they go ¡Sabotaje! ¡Rebelión! ¡Desobediencia! ¡Agitación! you know it's go time

Eh, just making fun of myself mostly. I apparently just like punk if you stick flutes, accordions, fiddles and bagpipes in it. And I still enjoy songs off DKM's blackout album, worker's song definitely included. Also worth mentioning is the street dogs, founded by DKM's first singer. More punk, less celtic, still awesome.

And yeah, you can find someone rocking celtic punk across the world it seems. I will admit that most of the bands I know trend towards american based band, though there are a few oddballs like Hungary in there.
