Ah yes, well if we're now talking about Bayesian odds, let's talk about it.

I want to argue that the prior odds here are not based on thread behavior or prior stance on a case, but rather overall individual history. This is the exact kind of case I always make. I'm sure I can at random pick from my last 5 town games and find me making a very similar argument about logic tracking.

In fact, here, let's do it: my last five town games were Covalescence, The Aquiline Conspiracy, The Ravenswood Haunting, The Harvest of Hnetva, and Joe Mafia. You can choose. Also wow, some of those are in 2016. I may be off my game. By a lot.

What does that do for my posterior odds?

Also, xopods, on a completely irrelevant note, I haven't been feeling this game. Arguing with you is the first real dose of mafia fun I've had in years.

My case on yuming is that she advocated lunching a low-content player despite being one herself, chose merk of all people, who at least has a vote down, and then only seemed to notice that another low-content player had made an excuse for it after supposedly having read all of them and deciding that merk is the worst.

60% of those are Ecco games. Historically Ecco always put me as town, because one time fronz cordyceps and I were all scum and we all claimed a masonry in-thread and got lunched in exactly 3 days. She put so much effort in the game and we blew it, and since then she doesn't trust me to be scum again.

I don't have archives but I believe you that the nature of your case is similar to ones you've made before as Town. Like I said, I don't find the logic inherently suspicious.

As Town, are you generally in the habit of looking for a reason to vote for one of the players involved in a slapfight, but a reason not directly connected to the original impetus for the slapfight?

Yes, but it also depends on the stage of the game.

I concurrently do two things. In-thread I stir enough poo poo that I link a few players together. Out-of-thread I have a list of everyone and I take names off based on my gut town reading about their first few posts.

If at the end of D1/D2 those lists look the same, I just hound those people.

But if we're on D5, I vote Hal or merk. I mean the made it to D5 for a reason.

My favourite stirring poo poo strategy, which I guess I won't do in this game because I'm talking about it, is right before the D1 deadline I change my vote. Better if away from the voteleader, regardless of what read I have on them. I want to see if anyone wavers, or if anyone points out to it at a later stage of the game to draft up a case against me. People who read posts in the context of a deadline are predominantly town, since they have deadline jitters. Scum don't usually remember things in the context of a deadline, just in the context of a "who's easiest to lunch".

Ernie.

That said, I'm not currently stirring poo poo. Of course.

How convenient that your Town strategy of "just stirring poo poo regardless of reads" would be indistinguishable from Scum being inconsistent because they're Scum. And that you're telling us you're not doing this now but might do so later.

What do you think of my case on yuming?

I was totally planning on doing it later for the sake of humor, but not any more. You ruined it, xopods.

I agree with your "case" on Yuming, but for a different reason. Town Yuming goes after people, scuming goes after ~sounding like herself~. But I also don't know if her style changed over the years so that's why I didn't comment on it yet. Was waiting to see what she says about your post first.

To expand: If I'm voting on scum at the end of D1, I give scum enough reason to switch their votes with me, raising a case against them. If I'm voting on town at the end of D1, I look good for moving my vote and I survive longer.

Her Merk vote is odd because it feels both serious and not at the same time. Like going off of feelings isn't going to do anything/convince people. Though having vibe/feelings/being worried about merk...I get it. I don't get voting for him from it though.

Also it being her first game post and calling out people hiding in the shadows is pretty funny.

Carbonara

I make this dish a lot, it's my favorite pasta dish.

Grated parmesan (not the cheap kind, actual cheese.)
Ramen noodles because I don't have spaghetti right now.
2 eggs fresh from a farm nearby.
Minced garlic.
Salt and pepper.
Cheap white cooking wine.
Bacon.
A little secret ingredient you might notice on top of the garlic that I will mention more later.

Set a pot to boil with salted water.

Get a skillet ready. Stainless steel is better than cast iron for this.

While the water is coming to a boil beat the eggs, some of the garlic, some of the cheese, and some black pepper together and set it aside.

Cut up your bacon and get it in the pan, turn the skillet on high to start.

Normally you'd also be getting your pasta in the pot too, but ramen noodles take way less time to cook than spaghetti so save it for now.

Cook the bacon on high for like, maybe 4 or 5 minutes until the fat starts rendering and it browns a little bit then turn it down to medium.

When it starts looking like this throw the noodles in the boiling water and turn the heat down a bit so it's just lightly boiling the noodles.

Finish cooking the bacon until it's nice and rendered and crispy. Set it aside and drain the grease but leave just about a teaspoon or so in the pan.

Turn the heat back up to high on the skillet and hit it with the cooking wine.

Stir and scrape up all the fond from the bottom and let it reduce until there is very little liquid left.

While the wine is reducing get a little bit of the pasta water, set it aside and drain the pasta.

This is where speed is key.

Turn the heat off of the skillet it and let the eye cool off for like, maybe 40 seconds to a minute.

Toss the drained noodles back into the pan and get it coated with the pan sauce, then quickly toss in the bacon and pasta water and mix it all up really well.

Then throw the egg mixture in and start mixing it to combine it. You need to cook the eggs with the residual heat from the noodles and pan but you aren't looking to scramble them. It should be creamy and smooth and you shouldn't see solid egg at all.

Once it's all combined plate it or bowl it or whatever.

This is where the secret ingredient comes in.

See that yellow thing on top of the garlic?

That is a small piece of cured egg yolks that I made.

You can cure egg yolks in a mixture of salt , sugar, herbs, an spices.

You make sure it's completely covered by the mixture on all sides and let it sit uncovered in your fridge for 3 days or so.

It will turn sort of rubbery and not at all liquidy.

Once this happens put it in a dehydrator for a few hours or, the way I do it, wrap the yolks in cheesecloth and hang them up in your kitchen for a couple more days until they are dried and have a hard texture with a very slight give.

So anyway, back to the carbonara.

After plating it sprinkle a little more parmesan on it and grate the cured egg yolk on top. Put a little more black pepper on there too if you want and enjoy that poo poo.

Cured egg yolks add a wonderful funky kind of flavor to pretty much anything.

It goes great grated over pasta, rice or just whatever.

I'm also quite suspicious of yuming and possibly TF.

I myself was kinda thinking there's a high chance at least some of the Scum are lying low cause that's what Scum often do early in the game... who was lurking? Yuming, TF and Sal. Sal shows up and gives a probably-valid RL excuse for not being around.

Then yuming shows up to make her first content post of the game. Acknowledges a few of the other cases but then advocates a lurker lynch of... merk? Who isn't exactly the lowest-content person here.

Immediately after that, she seems to notice Sal's excuse. If she was thinking of lunching a lurker and reading them to get ~feelings~ wouldn't she have noticed that up front?

Also, no mention of TF who was likewise lurking up to that point. But then who conveniently shows up right then? TF. The two then bounce back a few posts to each other without really paying much attention to the rest of the thread anymore. Then disappear again.

Maybe if they were Scum together they'd have tried not to be so coordinated, so I don't know about TF. Could just be yuming using her as a convenient person to interact with to get some posts down. But the whole series of yuming posts seems fishy to me, like a Scum feeling self-conscious about their own lack of content and looking for a way to jump into the thread, while also pointing out others' lack of content.

Mafia Edit: I see Ernie's reply to me as I'm previewing... gonna post this and take a poo poo, then I'll come back and answer him again. I'm not ignoring him to start a case on someone else.
So I’m coming from DBDs Dark Hospital game where Quid lurked as scum to great success and perfect victory.

So yea I am joining the thread with bias against voting for active players.

As I just said, merk and Mikujin stand out as suspicious to me but it is a weak read.

I think xopods is reading too much into timing. Sal I already mentioned.

Most of the players actively posting read town to me so I’m taking a shot in the dark to see where the game day goes and to shake up something I can get a better read off of.
