Also Warren is awful human being who cares more about using whatever necessary as a stepping stone to power including Native Americans and left wing politics. The fact that she has any defenders is the biggest indictment of American politics She is literally the Justin Trudeau of America I guess

If she believed in the things she campaigned on, she would have endorsed Bernie when she dropped out. If you want to say she had all the right in the world to run for president herself, then sure, but once she was no longer running she had the opportunity to give a big boost to the remaining candidate fighting for the things she claims to believe in, and she didn't, almost certainly because going against the DNC flagbearer would have sabotaged her future career.

All Bannon is doing these days is running some weird Mind Warrior think tank or some poo poo. Not trying to get into a D&D argument (and especially not trying to get into an argument about Red Scare because who gives a gently caress) here but it really doesn’t seem unreasonable. I get it, warren’s definitely being damaging right now and sure bannon isn’t at the height of his power , I just think it’s a needlessly hot take, and there’s absolutely no reason to defend red scare podcast at all, let alone for having bannon on. And with that I’ll let it go lest I become an iosm

My dumb rear end was actually talking about microwave oven microwaves, since I thought if it were possible to run it while the door was open then that would be harmful to people.

No power settings, no auto-timer, no shutoff when the door is open. She would commonly open it mid-cook to rotate or stir the food while the magnetron was still going She's pushing 90 and says it hasn't harmed her, but that's probably because the thing was running at only like 300 watts

God damnit people, stop being so stupid you make me have to defend 5G! As far as I'm aware, 5G's main use case as a wireless spectrum is for a bunch of IoT and smart home stuff, which I think we were better off without. For everything else, it's not really useful enough to implement over already-existing technologies. But I can't even research that fact to confirm it, let alone say anything about it in good conscience, because the main anti-5G arguments are this kind of nonsense. RareAcumen posted:My dumb rear end was actually talking about microwave oven microwaves, since I thought if it were possible to run it while the door was open then that would be harmful to people. Disclaimer: Neither a physicist nor a doctor Microwave radiation isn't directly harmful (in that it's not ionising, so doesn't cause the sort of damage that leads to cancers and radiation sickness) but standing in front of an open oven could cause burns because the one thing they do very effectively is excite molecules, causing them to heat up, which is how a microwave oven works. What's insidious about the particular frequency used in microwave ovens is - in order to ensure food cooks better - they use the lower frequency/longer wavelength bands which tend to penetrate deeper, meaning that your fat/muscle heats up, but because heat nerve endings are in the top layer of skin you're not actually aware that you're cooking until it's too late. A few seconds to a minute in front of an open door could be fine, but could cause burns and nerve damage depending on a load of different factors (which is why the interlocks on oven doors are generally pretty solidly-built and fail safe). Incidentally this is why nobody really cares about the high-frequency microwaves used for 5G - they're easily stopped by the very top layer of skin so even if they were dangerous they'd only be loving up skin that's already dead. Fun fact - pigeons absolutely love roosting in the feedhorns of line-of-sight microwave antennas, not least because they probably feel quite warm when they get in there, and of course they tend to be quite secluded, high-up locations. When it was first opened, half-cooked pigeons would occasionally rain from the BT Tower in London, which is basically a massive microwave relay station. However as the only people who lives around there were University College London students nobody really cared - they eventually fit the horns with microwave-transparent plastic covers not to stop some Humanities post-grad getting a free meal, but because pigeon poo poo is a really effective absorber of microwaves and it was messing up the links.
