Have you checked his "Remember Shakti" and "Shakti" projects, they make Indo Jazz. He has collaborative albums with few other musicians as well.

Could anyone suggest music with strong 90s futuristic FPS energy? Or even FPS with music that fits that archetype, i.e descent.

Gatekeepers exo album is a good exmaple but theyre all ive got:

I am not sure what you mean by FPS energy but loads of IDM albums from 90's sound like the track you sent.

This album for instance:

Also early Autechre, Aphex Twin, B12 and LFO sound like that.

This is also an example:

The Guitar Trio is a project he did with Paco De Lucia and Al Di Meola. Their album Friday Night in San Francisco is pretty excellent.

Can anyone recommend an instrumental slide guitar blues album or artist?

I'd also prefer if it's not a scratchy old recording.

I’d also be interested in this. I can’t think of any strictly instrumental blues musicians. Sonny Landreth is a hell of a slide player though.
Robert Randolph plays slide sometimes, and some of his earlier stuff leans bluesy, but he’s mostly pedal steel gospel. Mostly instrumental as well.

Duane Allman is my favorite slide player of all time, and while the ABB isn't instrumental they had a lot of instrumental songs and lengthy instrumental jams that featured lots of slide. Check out the tune "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed"

What are the must listen albums from Deftones? So far I've only listened to Diamond Eyes and White Pony. I do like both sounds, the more harsher of White Pony's is good too but I slightly liked the more ethereal softer tones in Diamond Eyes.

You got my favorite album in there (Diamond Eyes) and their probably best album (White Pony), so it's hard to say. I wasn't too big of a fan of anything past Diamon Eyes though, and consider Gore from 2016 to be my jumping off point. Check out 1997's "Around The Fur" though.

Related projects, check out "Team Sleep".

quote:

Team Sleep is an American experimental alternative rock/post-rock group led by singer/guitarist Chino Moreno. Moreno is better known for fronting the Sacramento-based alternative metal band Deftones. Other current members include guitarist Todd Wilkinson, turntablist DJ Crook, bass guitarist/keyboardist Rick Verrett, drummer Gil Sharone and bassist Chuck Doom.

Team Sleep's music touches on a variety of genres, including dream pop, trip hop, indie rock, post-rock, shoegaze, ambient music, psychedelic music, lo-fi music, and electronica.[1][2][3][4]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0ogaw5iJH4

I also love "†††" ("Crosses"), another Chino project, but they're more of an eletronic rock band. Still worth checking out, especially if you liked Diamond Eyes.

Does anyone have reccomendations for good gospel-bluegrass? More on the side of "God will come down on your sinful ways" than "God loves you"

HenryJLittlefinger

Gospel trends New Testament from my experience. There’s a fair amount of old “washed in the blood” and “onward Christian soldiers” type hymns, but Christian music in general tends to be a little more uplifting, “when we all get to His house,” “my soul is paid for,” and the like, especially gospel.
That said, Ricky Skaggs, Carter Family, etc. Most of the old bluegrass heroes did a lot of gospel because that’s what a huge amount of the American side of the genre sprung from.

Now if you want string music about sinning and death with the vengeful god element, there are bands like The Goddamn Gallows, Jayke Orvis, The .357 String Band, etc. Not gospel, not exactly bluegrass either, but soundtrack material for modern grit and twang tv shows.

Check in the country music thread, too.

Is there a genre name for music like this? That is, driving, percussion-only music, basically a series of iterated patterns with no real melody per se.

Failing that, any other music like that piece that anyone would care to recommend?
