I was watching one of the early one he was in recently and it was pretty explicit he personally paid for that one.

Thankfully not the one where he mounted Nigel Mansell.

:eng101: It's the part that actually bolts the engine and transmission cases together. Cracking one would be a bad day in a regular car but you could probably still drive carefully. In any modern open wheeler, the rear suspension is bolted to the transmission, so trying to race on a cracked bellhousing would probably result in the car suddenly and violently splitting in two.

Ross has talked about driving for some super underfunded teams in his driving books and not being able to push as much as he liked due to lack of spares. Wouldn't shock me if they had no replacements available.

Also back then, bellhousing was chassis+engine specific, so not a part you could just walk down to the Xtrac trailer and buy on the spot if you broke one.

I just started watching this. During practice he asked Wickens what wheel he was using and he said he had one with hand brake/throttle built into the wheel but it wasnt working right (the brake was an on/off switch) so he was using whatever he had at Barber which was seperate from the wheel and he said "this is not an ideal track to be steering with one hand"
yikes

i think he was using the hand brake/wheel throttle, similar to what Zanardi used at Daytona

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-L6Sg4Ds7E4&t=66s

yeah, it looks like he is using that now

i just realized that they are probably working on something else because you cant really do a handbrake in the indycar tub

I literally don't know of a sim where you can't race from behind. I'm 99% certain even iRacing added it as an option.

iRacing definitely does not offer it, but it's probably the only one. They also have an AI spotter and I don't know of any other sim that has that.

I seriously thought you could. I swear I remember someone saying they run Bristol from chase view.

I'm wondering if someone managed to kind of hack at it by either loving around with config files for camera positions, or if they literally joined the session with two accounts and used the replay cameras on one to act as the chase view for the other.

I caught part of the Indycar Motegi race on Saturday, it was worth a short watch - and a laugh when a lapper took out Power and SVG.

If any of you bought bronze badges/tickets for the 500, have you received them already? I haven't, and while I realize it's not super critical right now given ... everything, I was wondering when they usually arrive and if I should be concerned.

I got my race day tickets and bronze badge before the shutdown, but not my parking passes and some more carb day tickets I bought separately.
