Leave a note on their door with the property management's letterhead saying if they don't follow shelter in place standards their lease isn't getting renewed.

What's really funny is reading the last few posts about Made in USA and automation and realizing the younger generations are just as bad as uncritically repeating things they've heard from their friends, rather than doing any research themselves.

Maybe it's just because I'm an rear end in a top hat but I've stopped caring about these people. I do the social distance thing, I wear a mask when I got to go grocery shopping, and I just don't have any tolerance for these stupid loving comments old loving men feel the need to make. I have started actively telling people to get the gently caress out of my 6-foot personal space, because I don't care what these people think. They have ruined the world and deserve no place in it.

Maybe they should offer real life training courses or some kind of internet rehab.

Boomers love clicking on computer prompts and pop-ups without reading what they say and getting real mad about why they can't do what they need to do on a computer.

This is not necessarily a boomer trait. A coworker of mine who was probably 25 then, is probably 29 now, freaked the gently caress out because "there was a little man in her work computer". She couldn't explain it any further than that, just that there was obviously a virus or something. Turned out she had somehow brought up the banner ad for one of the antivirus programs or something and there had been an image of a person on the ad. She had closed that before she knew what it was and then freaked out because she didn't know what it was. I was baffled the entire time. Some folks are just insanely bad about reading poo poo on their computer.

I enjoyed the best delivery of my entire life and thought of this thread. Getting groceries, old guy standing in front of me says something I don't hear to woman in front of him in line finishing being rung through. Sounds snarky but might be my bias. She rolls her eyes and says "whatever". Old guy: "well, at least you had enough class not to say OK boo-" Her (interrupting): "SHUT YOUR loving MOUTH YOU TEDIOUS IDIOT. HOW'S THAT?" It was just eviserating. It was really great.

I know this sounds like STDH, but at least a couple of times recently I’ve told Boomers in line to back the gently caress up and look at the floor for social distancing markers when they’re quite literally breathing on the back of my neck, and all they could say from their gross mouths is “do you have to be so vulgar?” and/or give me a shocked look that I dared cuss at them. Yes, I’m a vulgar rear end in a top hat because social distancing is not a hard thing to do, especially when there’s clear markers on the floor that say “wait here” every six feet.

I mean, I think we need to use reverse psychology on these mummified fucks when it comes to social distancing because if you tell them something outright, they’ll do the complete opposite out of spite, Alzheimer’s, or to own the libs. Or all of the above. “Don’t social distance. It’s been proven to do nothing for Baby Boomers according to scientists.” “Daggumit, I’ll social distance if I want to, and no smart idiot is going to tell me what I can and can’t do in a line! This is America!”

It was one of those lovely little porn site banner ads about dating local singles that mimicked a messenger window. No, that was not actually a conversation he had with a local single girl. Yes, you both need to learn how the internet works. Edit: quoted the wrong person. Sorry, still figuring out these internets.

That's literally how in the lovely Christian movie Fireproof we know that Kirk Cameron has a porn addiction because there's a popup with a woman in a bikini in it. I've noticed Boomers have a issue with change to their routines. Everything was going along fine, then boom, Covid-19 and now they can't maintain those routines and that makes them mad. Especially the retired ones because they don't have work to keep them busy, so hanging around their neighborhoods looking for young people to complain about isn't going to keep them entertained.

doing everything according to a rigid series of steps with zero critical thinking is the core of what they are, it's why they lose their poo poo every time a menu moves in a new version of Outlook, they're scared to click around and look for it because they might break something. Anything which is not mandatory is forbidden.

They were a generation that was encouraged to show up, take the straight path forward, and not ask questions. Digital natives get much of the same, but we're rewarded from a young age by fiddling with software/hardware and being curious about how to use our "toys" to their maximum potential. Everyone hits an upper limit, the iphone has its market share for good reason, but there's still a sense of "learning how new poo poo works = part of life." Some Boomers are more curious, but they tend to be stuck in a very analog world where they can only handle one, maybe two levels of abstraction before the concept just breaks their minds. They're literally never been asked to move that deep before.

Imagine seeing your teenage son look at (relatively) normal, m/f or whatever porn, and thinking it's some immediate danger to his loving soul. Normal porn is a gateway porn for the weird stuff. The only way to ensure that your child turns out normal is to force them to repress all their sexual urges from a young age.

Got a laid off friend crashing with me, one of those friends you wouldn't necessarily want to live with/start a business with because of how different you are, but of course that makes them fun to hang out with. I've basically been fine with the quarantine because I have a 1br, a pet, a computer, and stacks of library-going-out-of-business paperbacks by like, Hesse that I never would have gotten around to reading if, like I wasn't essentially In Jail. He's a way more distractable needs constant stimulation type dude, showed up with a box of Krispy Kremes and Sonic burgers (wtf, don't bring random fast food in the house if you don't need to) and then broke quarantine 3 times the first 24 hours, including to get soda and mixers for the vodka he brought (I had 24 beers of various kinds, and plenty of weed, also OJ and Limeade or just take shots of straight vodka!). I leave the house once a week for groceries. Anyway, we talked about it and came to an understanding. We'll see how long that lasts against our tendencies, but at least we could discuss it. If we were Boomers, we'd be a week away from becoming one of those Dumb People Town episodes where two 58 year old room-mates get in a machete fight over who drank the other one's TaB. The edits were becoming their own post so I made it its own post: It has become increasingly obvious to me from the photos of these dumpy, bottle blond Karens and their Tactical Husbands, how few of the people demanding that the government "Let America Get Back To Work" haven't clocked into a job in probably the last 5 years, minimum. And Jesus H. Christ, from the first paragraph of the news story I got this from: Aaron Ruis of El Cajon manages an assisted-living facility for disabled adults, but Saturday in downtown San Diego he was managing crowd chants at a “freedom rally” to open the state’s economy. Jokes aside, I've got family in an assisted living facility and nothing that could happen is bad enough for this guy. Maybe Coronavirus pneumonia leading to a deoxygenated brain JUST long enough he's paralyzed but still cognizant for however long he has left.

My SO's boomer grandpa goes to Wal-mart every single day during quarantine to buy his banana and coffee in the morning Then he walks to all the other shops like home depot and what not He does this every day no matter how many times we've warned him. Luckily he lives in a town of 15,000 but it's also a tourist town and the weather is warming up so they are seeing WAY more cottage tourists than usual because everyone wants to get out of the house during quarantine.

This might be a bit long but I had a conversation with my mom yesterday and the Boomer energy coming off of her is shameful. Its genuinely worrying at this point. Some highlights. Mom: We need to relax this social distancing and other measures otherwise old people in nursing homes will start dying of loneliness. (I couldn't keep my composure at that one and laughed at her. The thought of cause of death on a death certificate to be "Loneliness" was too funny.) Mom: A Covid-19 vaccine wouldn't work and isn't necessary. Besides, all vaccines do is lessen the symptoms of the disease, they don't stop it. Me: Mom, that's not how vaccines work. Mom: Yes it is. I had to get the Shingles vaccine in doses, but after the 1st dose I had some shingles symptoms even though I was vaccinated against it so I didn't take the 2nd dose. Me: Mom, that means you're not vaccinated against shingles. If it takes 2 doses and you didn't take the second one you never got vaccinated. Mom: Yes I am! Some people's bodies react to vaccines in different ways and I believe my body only needed the one dose! I'm vaccinated against Shingles because of the 1st dose. Me: No you're not! You didn't finish the vaccinations so it didn't work! If it takes 2 doses and you didn't take the second one it didn't work! Mom: I guess we just have to agree to disagree. Me: When I was at the store I had to yell at some old rear end in a top hat to back up because while I was looking at vegetables he invaded my personal space with no PPE while touching everything he could. Mom: Well why didn't you just move? me: Because I was there first? Why should I have to move because some rear end in a top hat who doesn't give a gently caress about anything invades my personal space? Mom: Well you should have been considerate and just moved away while he was there. I'm sure you were also mean and swore at him too for no reason. Me: You're drat right I was mean to him. He was putting myself and everyone else at risk because he doesn't give a poo poo that things have changed. I'm done being nice to old people who very clearly don't care about my health or the health of others. Mom: You should still be respectful to him because he's old and deserves your respect. There was also a range of right wing talking points like "This is not any worse than the flu", "The cure cannot be worse than the disease", and "Everything is trending downward so we need to open up the country". This is even before she starts bitching about how my pregnant sister, who is due in June, won't let her play with her grandson. She almost did Easter because she was in "quarantine" for 2 weeks but stopped at mother loving WAL-MART before seeing my sister to buy a kite for the grandson and was pissed she couldn't see him anymore. I also say "quarantine" because she constantly talks about how wonderful it is she is meeting so many new neighbors in her neighborhood while on her morning walks. No matter how many times I explain to her she shouldn't be meeting new people or having them over, even if they don't go inside the house, because of the global pandemic that is killing thousands she doesn't care. Her excuse is her routine has been upended enough as it is and the virus isn't that bad. Her sister, who is in her late 60s and lives with my late 80s grandmother who was just in the hospital for a few days for some kind of blockage in her small intestines, was calling and asking if she was going to come home for Easter. My mom lives in Indiana and they live in Wisconsin. My grandmother is also constantly in the hospital for pneumonia. I wonder why I even loving bother anymore. Alright I'm done ranting and I'll have a Baconator with a small fries and frosty please.

A family that I know is going bat-poo poo because they can't open their golf course. On one hand, I'll give them credit for being smart enough to not allow it under the table, with half of the course visible from the road. But of course, the entitlement is off the charts. "There couldn't be a game better designed for social distancing! We'll close the clubhouse and only allow food/drink from a window! WE'VE FIGURED ALL OUT OF THE LOGISTICS OUT! WHY WON''T YOU LET US OPEN???!!!!" It's not like they're the only business being affected by quarantine; they're the only business that matters that is being affected by quarantine.
