Spot hidden probably gets more use but so many adventure outcomes relies almost entirely on finding the vital clue with library use. Going to the library used to be a good way for the GM to drop hints and exposition before the "idea check" became popular as well. Hope you put enough points into dodge to avoid getting shoved into this locker!!!

man all my favorite podcasts are recording in separate locations now and it leads to a lot more people talking over each other. I’m on the autism spectrum and have always gotten overwhelmed by crosstalk.. now I feel like I need to pop a Xanax before listening to anything

I think I get what he means but talking about it in terms of fascism is tough because fascism itself is kind of wooly and aesthetic. I think he means more a by-the-numbers military corporate junta is the last thing to save the US from Trumpism, or whatever the follow-up to Trumpism is. Boring authoritarians in suits and military uniforms saving the urban elite from white nationalist death cult loons who want to detonate the nukes to bring back Jesus. Both are authoritarian nightmares, the second more closely resembles the death cult, swivel-eyed lunacy of nazism.

Yeah the reason why Matt's thing on E1 got to me wasn't even "How dare he criticize a Chapo-adjacent franchise", it's more that he's fully cognizant that the kind of stream performance that they wanted is not something he'd be able to deliver and similar situations have eaten him inside. Specially an event for fundraising. I do however think that one of his neighbors should call him a dork mid-stream at some point.

What I get from it is that whatever the next phase of the american empire is going to look like, it's more likely to be a military takeover with a Sisi type guy running things, rather than a Hitler or Mussolini figure rising up through the electoral system. People always want to quibble over whether those are both fascism, or we are already fascist but that seems like just kind a semantic debate to me

yeah matt’s take is something like, the military keeping a surface level “diverse” american nationalism instead of white supremacy, and some basic level of social liberalism. that will be the legitimacy and consolation prize for the urban elites in exchange for accepting an authoritarian empire where the trappings of democracy are no longer extant. and his take beyond that is the military is full of sycophantic careerists who wouldn’t do this because the institution is too degraded to even do a proper coup
