Everybody knows Tove Lo is the trashier version of Robyn, as if Talking Body didn't already make that connection clear back in 2016!

"Tell that to Zod's snapped neck!"

fun fact, here is a list of the previous features on all of Gaga's solo albums (no Tony Bennett and no ASIB):

Colby O'Donis
Space Cowboy
Flo Rida
Beyonce
T.I.
Too Short
Twista
R Kelly (you can try to hide it on Apple Music Gaga, I still have that track, even if I never listen to it because it is wildly loving inappropriate)
Florence Welch

so Chromatica will have easily the most tracks with featured artists (that trio of rappers in the middle were on the same ARTPOP track), and probably aside from Beyonce the most appropriate fame wise.

this is the first Blackpink song I ever heard, right about a year ago right before they did Coachella, which was a really good performance that I'd say you should go back and watch if they didn't drop that poo poo in a vault immediately after the festival is over. It's still probably my favorite K-pop song, it's not quite as schizophrenic as some of its K-pop kin, that beat slaps, and all of the girls have really good voices, it's just really good and I think deserved to do a little better on the charts here. BTS is fine and all but Blackpink is where it's at. I bet they'll be good fits for Gaga's album.

I was at their Coachella performance. Their being on the lineup was the whole reason I even checked them out and I was blown away. I still haven’t found another k-pop artist that I really like, they’re different. There’s a really perfect dash of Western contemporary music. They have a brilliant producer and team behind them I know. Just listen to the percussion on DDU-DDU-DU, I would listen to their instrumentals.

also, they just uploaded a couple vids from the performance again. They were so good live. Had a badass American live rock band that added a whole new element.

you can tell this is Jack Antonoff producing, I can absolutely imagine Nate Ruess singing this song (except for the fact that coming from a guy it would sound condescending and coming from the Dixie Chicks it's got an "older sister" vibe to it that really fits with who they are)

I also feel like this is gonna be in a bunch of movie trailers over the next year if it's at all successful. it sounds like a movie trailer song

edit: it is very nice that all of their daughters got namechecked in here. Julianna is Emily Strayer's daughter, her other daughter Violet and Martie McGuire's daughters Eva, Katie and Harper are all in the lyrics too. Natalie Maines also has two sons but, you know, not the time for that..

I'm not even the big pop fan most of you are, but I can't get Doja Cat's "Say So" out of my head. Apparently the single came out months ago, but I only heard it on the radio last week, and I've watched the video on Youtube several times since then. I think it could have been the "song of the summer" if we were going to have any kind of normal summer this year. I was sad to learn that Dr. Luke produced it, but also not that surprised.

Someone else did a mashup of "Say So," "Thank You Next," and some random Nicki Minaj verse, and they all fit seamlessly together, like it was all the same song in the first place.

it should be noted that Doja doesn't like Dr. Luke either, it's just one of those situations where she signed a huge long contract with his record label back in like, 2014 and he's had control over her (official) projects ever since, similar to why Kesha had to keep making records for his imprint even after the lawsuit alleging he raped her (although obviously not that extreme). She liked a bunch of tweets basically confirming that story (because I'm sure there's a "don't call Dr. Luke a rapist in public" clause in her contract).

Say So is amazing though, Doja has really great pop sensibilities. Juicy (not the one with Tyga the original one gently caress Tyga) is one of the best pieces of pop-rap of the decade IMO and Tia Tamera is her and Rico Nasty making an incredibly fun song that shows off both's rapping skills (Rico Nasty is amazing)

Petras is on AWOL (arists without a label) like Allie X and some other poppers. So she retains a lot of rights a lot of other pop musicians don't. I believe Kim's stance is she has no stake in it. I mean Turn Off The Light II contains s decent amount of non-Petras, Luke segues. Given he's produced every track for her nearly, I don't think there's hate towards him from Petas. She just wants left out of it and they do admittedly work very well together. Any non=Luke song she's on she struggles to find her voice it seems to me aside listing off luxury brands.
