I really liked the drummer for acid bath, too bad it seems like he was never in any other bands. More fills! Hang those who talk of less!

When they released the first track from the album (Embers) I posted about it in here saying I wasn't really a fan of it, but it has admittedly been growing on me over the last little while, so I do want to give the whole album a shot now that it's out.

Speaking of albums released today, Elephant Tree just dropped their new one, Habits:

This is really good and gave me some Isis vibes.

I like the new Elder album but I get the complaints of them moving further away from their heavy roots. Parts of it feel like an alternate path Baroness could've taken in the 2010s.

I completely forgot Elder had a new album out and coincidentally I was listening to their 2008 release.

Omens is definitely different but IMO definitely awesome

A friendly face.

I like Elder's new desert rock side but I'm still far more into their stoner/doom side. Reflections was still awesome though.

Oh yeah, baby. Frame your suffering as a masterpiece. Only one problem - no one's watching. It's boring, buddy, boring as death.
That Elephant Tree album reminds me of Torche, if it was less pop and more chill, good stuff.

Just FYI that Bandcamp is foregoing its cut of purchases this Friday so toss a few bucks around if you can afford it:

quote:

Greetings,

A few Fridays ago, we waived our revenue share to help musicians impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Bandcamp community (very possibly including you!) went above and beyond, paying $4.3 million to artists and labels in just 24 hours. It was an inspiring day, and we heard many requests to do it again, so we’re going to do exactly that.

This Friday, May 1, we’re once again waiving our revenue share for all sales on Bandcamp, from midnight to midnight PDT.

If you’re fortunate enough to be in a position to spare some funds, please join us in providing some much-needed support to the many amazing artists on Bandcamp.

Details are here, and please help us spread the word!

Aerial Ruin guy contributed vocals to a few Bell Witch releases already so glad to see more, his solo stuff is real cool folky stuff that you should definitely check out

This is a big part of it. Most musicians are pretty drat lazy about that kind of stuff. That's why record labels and managers exist.

New Elder has some great instrumental parts, but I feel like the vocals sound less and less suited to their music with each successive album.

The praise Elder are getting on facebook and reviews for the vocal is pretty weird because its absolutely the worst performance Nick has done.

The album sucks even by nu-elder standards.

Pretty much my exact thoughts. I still liked it overall, but it was definitely despite the vocals.

This big, fuzzy doom out of Greece was released earlier in the year but came up on my YouTube recommendations today and I thought it was pretty good:

Haha I decided to be diplomatic, but you're right. They should have just gotten a different vocalist once they started moving towards the more melodic singing, because Nick can't do that, at all. His vocals were so loving bad both times I saw them.

The old customs remain
and the ancient gods live on
I feel like there could be no other time to get into doom metal or sludge metal or stoner metal or anything that feels so corrosive to life itself. I am a man who embodies sorrow and hatred and my music taste reflects it. I spend my days getting high or drunk . When i'm sober, i'm riding a motorcycle. I love it all. I don't ever feel bad about being dark or being unaware about the parts of life that suck. I just feel like a skeleton whose skin is made up from these songs.

Sludge is gonna suit that mood more than doom. Put on some Dead Existence, Lifeless Gaze, and Meth Drinker.
