So I went and talked to the new holland dealer. He had a powerstar 120 in stock. Premium cab, TL655 loader, only 2 remotes and no third function on the loader hydraulics. Low 70’s price. Nice machine, less than JD, made in turkey :(. Dealer says most people don’t like the electronics and adding the diverter to the loader is an expensive job. Adding a 3rd remote is not bad. He is going to prepare me a quote next week on the tractor as it sits vs ordering new. Had a nice used CX15 batwing bush hog and a woods blade I would go for as well. He did say that parts backorder sometimes, but there are 4 major NH dealers within 45 minutes.

Then we looked at the property we are under contract for. 97 acres. Only one operator from the ag coop is brave enough to lime parts of it. As we pulled into the driveway, a neighbor came by on her four wheeler. She grew up there, great great great grandparents built the house and barns. She explained the house had extensive termite damage, needed a new foundation, well is shallow and has problems, needs to be completely re wired. Not worth saving. Which was my thought anyways when we made the offer. I could live there temporarily but I would hate to be there long term. The remaining barns are ok.

What I didn’t realize was the extent of the coal mines on the property. None where we wanted to build, so a sigh of relief there, but she took us way back in the woods near an old cemetery to the mine entrance. The mine had been dynamited closed so her brothers couldn’t play in it, but had water coming out and some old metal dumped near it. My wife, kid and the lady stayed back, I wanted to see where the water came from. Found the source of the water AND an active coyote den in the rubble. Left pretty quick, didn’t have a gun on me. The lady said there is another den elsewhere on the property near an old spring her father used to water cows. Didn’t bother to explore that.

You gotta host 'em somewhere and you can't host 'em here. But if they end in lower case .jpg the forum automatically adds the tags for you. Other than that I'm not sure if there's a better way, I just deal with it because I only post a few pics at a time.

In more covid news, I gotta say I'm already becoming a better cook and I can see a major lifestyle shift even after this is over. Now that I'm in the habit of cooking more it'll be easy to keep going. Even quick easy food, like I normally toss hot dogs in the microwave but I felt like more flavor so I split and pan grilled them, and toasted the bun. Put some cheese on there to melt and holy poo poo what a better tasting hot dog than normal.

The hardest part of being a parent is watching your kids suffer with no way to help. My daughter's last 3 months of senior year has been just... erased. She was supposed to direct her first play (after 4 years of performing and doing stagehand/costumes/etc), she was supposed to perform in a dance show, she was supposed to go to prom, and all the associated parties with her friends. And no graduation except what we throw for her and broadcast virtually. She will likely not see any of her best friends again before they go off to college, when they had an entire summer full of plans. It's a really lovely ending in place of what was supposed to be a really epic time in her life, just at the peak of everything she's built up and worked her rear end off for. And she's very melancholy about it. She made a mix tape for her best friend and asked for my input on the song order. It's all really sad breakup songs and it makes me choke up on her behalf. Because she's in the IB program at school, all her work ended on 4/20 and the rest of the year was studying for the very intense final exams. They cancelled the exams so she gets to graduate with the grades she earned, which again was all As. She gets a nice 4 month summer break but has to spend it alone. Or worse, with her parents.

I know it's just high school bullshit but when you're 17 it's everything, and I can't do anything for her. It's nobody's fault, and others are suffering a lot worse, so we try to keep it in perspective. It still sucks.

I will post more at some point. Thats only a small corner we didn’t bother to check during the showing. You would have had to grow up there to even know where to look. The rest of the property is amazing, but will be a challenge to mow. The seller offered to cut hay on shares which saves me from buying $$$$$ worth of equipment. Still need a big tractor and maybe a skid steer.

The TRD Camry in the two-tone black and red is surprisingly good looking. All my notions about what cars make what kind of power solidified in the early 2000s; it's kinda surprising that Toyota is making a Camry that makes 300+ hp right off the assembly line.

I camped out in a nearby field for 3 hours one night last week to see them too. I saw 35 or so.

Does anybody know of some decent online info about them. Wikipedia says there are going to be 12-42,000 of them eventually!. I'd like to know how visible they are going be be later.

I meant how visible they are gonna be in 6-18 months once the other 1100 satellites are up there (wikipedia says there are 400 now and going to be 1500 by late 2021).

am i gonna see lines of 60+ satellites? Am i going to be able to see multiple lines going in different directions? will i see a grid of them? (which would be even cooler than a line)

So this loving Outback..... took the inlet off (again... Im getting to down to a fine science now, basically ten minutes) to have a look at the valves to confirm they are doign what they should be.

So on a opposite opposed engine, 1 and 2 are 360 degrees opposed - ie as one cylinder fires, the other is completing exhaust stroke, remember a four stroke is 720 degrees for one firing. Thence they are both at TDC at the same time. So marking off the crakshaft for when we confirm no 1 really is at TDC, we should get the inlet begin to open at the same relavie crank angle. So, we get visible opening on No 2 at about 15 degrees ATDC. Which is a tooth out, it should be be at start 4 ATDC. Okay fiiiiine the factory manual actually isnt that great at exactly trying to put the chains on but there a bunch of online stuff that shows it much better. There's also as I have now worked out a specific number of teeth at a certain angle which has the cams exactly where they should be. Fine. It's not an uncommon mistake and not engine lethal but the car should be able to start from that. And lets face it it maybe the valves are beginning to open but not enough to be truly visible until 20 ATDC. So in reality that has a chance of being as it should be.

NO 1...... now we found a failed AVCS unit on this when dong a sanity check of the chain timing a week ago. Ooooooh boy and THIS time I can see No 1 is trying to open at full advance for AVCS or about 47 BTDC. That hasnt got a hope in hell of starting. So either the cam wheel was put on with the AVCS advance fully on (It works hydrallically so it should not have been able to, the default position is cam at full retard) OR I got another failed camwheel? Yeah nah, two in a row is prolly not a chance.

Well anyway the whole timing cover is coming off again ..... loving hell. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck timing chains. I never thought I would have longed for timing belts butGG at least to test all of this nonsense you can have the timing belt exposed - you cant on a timing chain Subaru as the cover forms part of the sump and thats 2 litres you will be short so it wont get oil pressure...!

Oh yeah I found that out as well. 5.3 litres for a regular oil change, 5.6 oil change with filter..... 7.8(!!!!!!) litres after a full teardown. The manual didn't make that clear....... it only lists oil change until you go looking in the full specs sheet and find it buried in an appendix. So yeah if you open up a EZ30R expect another two litres of oil to try and stain your garage AFTER the oil in the pan is dropped.

gently caress I hate Subaru timing chain motors. I;d have had this sorted weeks ago otherwise.
