They just did the sequel. It would be fun as hell though.

I absolutely adore this first Pirates movie tbh. 2 and 3 are overly complicated messes but do still have things I like in them.

4 is one of the worst theatergoing experiences I've ever had and I could scarcely tell you a drat thing about 5, that's just a nothing production.

The thing is, I didn't even know there was a 5th one until now.

There's a "knee-slapping" bit in this week's episode that gets duplicated.

I rewatched the first one last night before the episode and it was pretty boring. I can only imagine how dull the next few will be if this is supposed to be the best of the bunch.

Starting the episode, I was thinking I can't wait for 4 weeks of this. Then when Andrew said 5 weeks, my first thought was "is this a bit about how long these movies are? There are 4 of them right? Right?" (and I'm on the patreon and read the schedule already, so no excuse there)

I've only seen the first 3, because after how much I hated 2 and 3, I realized that if I kept watching any more of them, the problem really was with me, not them.

Like the Transformers movies. Some people must like them, if they keep being made. Why would I keep watching them, though? That would be my fault, at that point.

I haven't watched the first one in years, but I remember loving it as a fun adventure movie. The sequels really soured the whole experience, though, so I haven't been back.

:same:

I've only seen the first two Transformers, and the second one was such a mess that I didn't even bother with another one.

With how some things are popular, I feel like people don't actually pay attention to movies. It's a bunch of pretty pictures with some sounds, and somehow it keeps people occupied between food intake sessions.

Holy crap, I didn't know there was a thread for this podcast here. I love these guys--someone recommended them to me about a year back and I have devoured every old episode.

Also, I enjoyed the first 3 Pirates movies--and the series should have ended there. Those other two movies can be, as Andrew Jupin says, put in a box, vacuum-sealed, driven out to the middle of the ocean on a boat, and hucked over the side.

Even if they’re bad I still enjoy Johnny Depp being a smarmy pirate, I’ll give any Jack Sparrow movie a chance.

Aw man, the Pirates stuff is probably going to be a pass for me. I saw the first once when it was in theaters, and that's where my relationship with the franchise began and ended. I didn't dislike it or anything, but by the time sequels started popping up I didn't give a poo poo. Aside from Star Wars every series they've done a multi-episode feature on is something I've never seen, god drat it WHM lol

I recently upped my sub to $5 and have really been enjoying the bonus content and relistening to older eps tho. The upcoming WLM makes it a decent time to finally rewatch The Ring. I also only saw it once in the theater, and late that night after I got home I was watching something boring on PBS and the TV reception suddenly cut out to static. That was easily the most effective movie-related scare of my life :ghost:

Counterpoint: I'm less than 30 minutes into the first Pirates episode and they're doing impressions of Schwarzenegger jerking off on Treebeard from LOTR.

They go on so many tangents in the Pirates episode. I feel like they didn't even start talking about the movie until 30 minutes into the episode.

To clarify: This is not a complaint and the tangents were great.

It is a little ironic that they spent a lot of time talking about the movie taking forever to get going and also spent 30 minutes themselves getting going

4 is absolutely dire. 5 is unbearably long but kind of funny between Depp's completely checked out and/or drunk performance and the CGI "underwater" floating hair that always makes me laugh.

The R-rated cut of this is a funny cheesy movie. Evan Stone is a national treasure.

Netflix had the R rated cut so my buddy rented it and then his mom thought it was the latest POTC movie and watched it and she was so disappointed in us

I can't believe how much they've stepped up their game during all this bullshit. So much content, and their remote setup sounds better than any podcast I've heard.

Also I was theorizing in my about their Patreon, they're up to 7000 patrons now. I wonder what percentage is on which tier? I would imagine most are at the $5 level, and if that's the case, divided evenly the guys are pulling 6 figures from their funny movie podcast. I'm really happy for them.

It helps they were one of the first in the bad movie podcast game. I remember listening to them, How Did This Get Made and Was it Really That Bad.

Nowadays That Bad is totally gone from the internet because a fan doxed them and How Did is loving unlistenable.

Yea, I used to listen to The Flophouse. It had its moments but I got tired of it after a while. I've stuck with WHM for like 6 years now.
